HKClubbing.com caught up with the talented DJ Mason before he visited Hong Kong to DJ and play his violin at the same time with Godskitchen. He talks about DJing in a plane to partying at the Liquid rooms in Singapore.

HKClubbing: What has been the wildest party crowd in Asia that you have seen and worldwide ?

Mason: The wildest crowd in Asia would be the liquid room in Singapore. This saturday is gonna be my first gig in Hong Kong, so that might beat it...  Worldwide my best gig was an event in Peru with dj Tiesto. I played before and after him, and the crowd was really amazing.

HKClubbing: Do you find it tricky some times to spin and play your violin during a performance when even just DJing can take quite a lot of time to get it right?

Mason: Not really. I play for about 10 years now, so the beatsync part goes very fast. The rest of the time I'm adding effects to the dj-ing (like samples, scratching etc) , or I play violin.  However, I do pick
records which have the space for violin, and which aren't to short.

HKclubbing: Last time you were set to perform in HK you moved to Shenzhen at the last minute, what happened there?

Mason: I don't really know actually.  The Shenzhen party was great though!

HKClubbing: Does music run in the family to play classical instruments or are you the first? Was there someone who inspired you to learn?

Mason: My family isn't very musical. It seems that I kept on asking to play the violin, when I was about six years old. Finally I convinced them to get me lessons.

HKClubbing: How have the crowds around the world responded to such a unique dance music performance?

Mason: Luckily, the crowd always reacts good to it. The first time I pick the instrument during dj-ing, they are usually a bit shocked!

HKClubbing: Any chance of singing too :)

Mason: Well, actually I'm thinking of using my voice in combination with effects during the dj-ing as well...  Who told you?  :-)

HKClubbing: What can we expect from you during your performance in Hong Kong?

Mason: An energetic set of electro, breakbeat, tech-house and progressive.

HKClubbing: Ibiza is over in September, did you get a chance to go over to the party island and what did you get up to?

Mason: I didn't go this year. I've been busy with playing in other places. Next year hopefully!

HKClubbing: Where have you always wanted to perform and why?

Mason: In an airplane would be cool!  A real eight mile high club!

HKClubbing: What great plans to do you have up for the rest of this years (performances/releases etc)

Mason: My first EP called "Helikopter EP"  is gonna be released within weeks,  which is a big landmark for me.  I'm also looking forward to a
South-America tour in Oktober.
