HKClubbing started its quick question and answer sessions with Jamie of Dive Dive who will be one of the bands performing at this years massive outdoor Rockit Festival at Victoria Park.
Q1) Please introduce yourself:
My name is Jamie. I sing and play guitar and generally am the leader in Dive Dive.
Q2) What style of music will you be performing?
Jet-lagged hardcore schizophrenic guitar noise with tunes.
Q3) What made you decided to perform at this year’s Rockit festival in Hong Kong?
Because we can.
Q4) What quality in your performance do you add to the 2 day event?
I’m thinking about writing a song whilst we play and getting the band to follow. It will either let people see the beauty of spontaneous song writing, or will leave them scratching their heads.
Q5) Are there any other performers at Rockit this year that you are looking forward to see?
Yes
Q6) Which other festivals have you performed at and what did you enjoy the most about those?
We’ve done a few, this will be our biggest so far. But we have played at Truck in the U.K. which is about 3000 people and I love playing as much as watching bands I’ve never heard of.
Q7) Which if any artists have inspired you and your music over the last few years?
So many but choosing one letter of the alphabet, The Pixies, The Police, The Pogues, Pavement, Prince.
Q8) What have you got planned for the last few months of the year, and anything special for next year yet? (Gigs/ releases/ collaborations?)
Releasing a single in October, Touring the U.K., making a video for the next single, finishing mixing the album due out in January, recording the next album, International Superstardom. You know….. usual band stuff.
Q9) If there was one thing about a festival that really makes it special what do you think it would be? Or if there is not just one thing, what is the major combination?
The people that attend and their tolerance of others. During the weekend of the Glastonbury festival all attitudes are left at the gate and a small utopian society forms itself brought together by their love of all music. But then again, that may just be the drugs.
