DJ Stan joins HKClubbing.com for this latest interview with Lee Coombs, who’s coming to our city by the end of the month. The guys talked about his gigs, fun things during Halloween, and Lee wants all the women to bring the broomsticks out!

S: Thanks for jamming with us here on HKClubbing Radio on HKClubbing.com ! We have the guy who will be rocking it with us this coming Halloween – the one the only – Lee Coombs!

L: Hello there! How you doing?

S: Say hi to all of your fans here waiting for you.

L: (Giggles) Hello Hong Kong!

S: I bet you can’t wait to get here.

L: No! I can’t! I was there a few months ago, and it was great! I can’t wait to come back.

S: But you’re in the UK right now, so tell us what’s happening around there!

L: I’m in the studio at the moment, just completing a new remix lately in the UK, doing lots of promotion for my album and talking to you!

S: Haha. Obviously everyone’s waiting for that huge gig by the end of the month in Hong Kong, and I know you’re definitely excited about it. First, let’s talk about your career and how it’s been going for ya. You’ve worked with a lot of different artists, any particular one that you remember the most?

L: Well every gig is great, you know… good gig… well I think the best gig for me recently,  was Hum, last week, in London, which is Reenie Pilgrem and Meat Katie’s club. Yeah, it’s great, you’ve got like 1500 people in a really underground venue, in the center of London, and it’s full of people that really love the music! Not just tourist or people that are just going to the club for a night out. But they’re absolutely there to follow the DJ and really get into the sight and sound. So it was a great atmosphere. A good night!

S: What in standard now, for you to call it an excellent gig?

L: Haha. Well obviously it has to be full of people. The sound system has to be good. The people have to be into the music. And be happy, not standing around! (LOL) Yeah, obviously no problems in the club, and yeah! Just as long as everybody’s enjoying it, that’s it. That’s all it is really.

S: I’m gonna get personal here, I’m gonna ask you to dish the dirt. If you wanna name names, go ahead! What really pisses you off when you work with other DJs? Be honest now!

L: Haha… I think the worst thing you can have, playing with other DJs, is someone playing loads of really hard, banging music before you go on the deck. I’m not gonna say any names… it’s not fair, but that is the worst thing that can happen! (LOL) It leaves you nowhere to go. Coz when you play a proper set, you don’t wanna start off with the hardest music, you wanna start somewhere and build in to something. So when you have the DJ before, who’s absolutely banging all the big tunes out, it’s kind of… a bit distracting.

S: Tell us the gig you had here a few months ago!

L: I played in Shenzhen, and Guangzhou in China. I didn’t really play in Hong Kong. But yeah, there’re good clubs, Guangzhou is great. And I had a god night!

S: For your fans in Hong Kong, what should we be expecting from you this Halloween?

L: Whoa, loads of new music, lots of new remixes, things that no one’s heard before… loads of big fat new records that are about to make the crowd go wild!

S: This is definitely not your first Halloween gigs, and you know how it gets when it’s Halloween… any unforgettable moments during Halloween for ya?

L: Halloween… I think in the States, Halloween is probably one of the biggest nights of the year. I come to there quite a lot…but I don’t really have many massive nights at Halloween… hopefully this one will be great!

S: Any dressing advice for people in here? For your gig!

L: (LOL) Yeah! All the women got a red boomstick! All the men… (LOL)

S: Be as scary as possible!

L: Hopefully not!

S: We’ve been making it clean and nice for you, so any word for the people listening to HKClubbing Radio?

L: Yeah! I’m just gonna do a quick plug on my album, actually. ‘Breakfast Of Champions’, on Finger Lickin, it’s out now! So check it out!

Lee Coombs is playing at HITEC on the 30th of this month, so catch him here in town for the Halloween party!
