She’s only at the age of 23, but she’s already one of the biggest acts in Thailand. With the American blood in her, Tata Young is now looking ahead to expand her success from Asia to the World. But first, she hits Asia’s WORLD City, introducing herself and her music to us picky music lovers.
T: Tata Young A: Alyson from HKClubbing.com
A: I am here sitting with the lovely lady who flew in just to meet the fans, and talk to you guys over there… so can I please ask her to introduce herself? T: Hey everyone, I’m Tata Young. A: How’s it going? T: I’m very good! Been sexy, naughty, bitchy enough! A: (LOL) Welcome back to Hong Kong! T: Thank you! A: I heard you’ve been here for quite a few times! T: Yes I have. Personally and work. A: Well I definitely remember when it was 97… T: Um Hm… The handover. A: And then after that you came back for a few times… T: So many times… I love it here! I think it’s great! Very fashionable city, people are great, food’s good… I mean, everything’s so perfect, why wouldn’t I come back? A: Comparing Hong Kong right now to back in 97, do you see any difference? T: Oh yeah! The city is just growing and growing… just more modern everyday.
A: Tell us about the new album. T: Ok. Well, it’s my first English album, it’s my seventh album that I’ve released. And this is my first album that I’ve released all over Asia, so I’m really excited, it’s called ‘I Believe’, and um… yes, you’ve listened to the first single already, which is ‘Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy’. And the second single is ‘I Believe’. And we’ve got great twelve tracks, is of variety pop album, so… it’s filled with pop rock, pop R&B, POP POP POP! Pop dance! A: Tell us about your new single then! T: Well it’s talking about love, basically the song is talking about love, how a person believes in love so much… passion, and even her soul-mate… A: Do you write your own songs? T: I write them in Thai. I write them in Thai… But I haven’t tried writing in English because I don’t wanna ruin this album… coz it’s just so perfect… HUH! A: Great!! What’s your favorite song on the album? T: My most favorite song is ‘Call Him Mine’… ‘Call Him Mine’ is my favorite track.
A: I know that you’re actually a multi-dimensional artist. You do all sort of different things… what do you actually like to do best? T: Singing. Singing is definitely my first priority. Actually singing is the first that introduced me to the rest! Which was modeling and acting. And at the same time while I’m doing acting, AND modeling, I’ll be singing too! Because I did the soundtrack of the movies, and I did the catwalk, and at the same time, I did the concert… so… it’s quite cool, yeah. A: I know that you’re only like 23 years old, but you’ve sold already like 12 million records, and you’ve been on Time magazine, you’ve been selected as one of the most influential people in Thailand… what else do you want? T: I wanna be the first Asian to break through worldwide for music and movies. I wanna create a big fan-base in Asia. Coz I don’t believe in myself as a Thai, or as an American, I believe I’m an Asian. You know, I wanna be representing Asia to do that. So it’s not like I don’t want my own… I’m not selfish… so it’s not only like for Thailand… it’s for the whole Asian country, you know it’s great!
A: Did it depress you in a way, when most of the people they start off really young, and they will be forever a teenage girl, or forever a baby girl in people’s eyes… T: I’m still a baby girl in Thailand, that’s probably why they’re questioning about the ‘Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy’ part… and they THEN realized after this album, “OH! She has grown a lot, you know!” They kinda forgot that I am now 23 instead of 14! So um… yeah… A: The world understand that “Sex Sells”. And especially western singers, they like to get down and dirty and all… T: It’s SEX APPEAL! It’s nature! Yeah! A: So you don’t feel anything offensive about that? T: Noooo!!! I feel great when people tell me I’m Sexy! Every girl should feel great about that, it’s not a bad thing! Being sexy is great, women should be proud. I think it’s better than people telling you you’re beautiful! A: Wow! So what’s your limit then? T: You know what… I think it’s difficult to explain… I guess it’s just whatever I feel comfortable with…
A: More light-hearted questions now. I know you’ve always got this great sense of Fashion! Tell us about some do’s and don’t’s for the season. T: Um… (thought for 10 seconds) Never go dark color! Really! It’s summer people! Hello?? It’s actually… almost raining season, but… always stick to colors! Colors make people look bright, and um… you know when you wear black… black or grey… or something like that… especially on a very bad day, do NOT wear that! Wear something that’ll make you look bright! People would definitely compliment you on that. Ugh… what else… shades are in… shades are definitely in… BIG SHADES! Big big shades… um… what else… color! All I have to say is color… A: So I guess I’m doing ok! T: You’re “A”!!! A: I got my yellow top on, I got my glasses on… that’s great!! T: You’re doing great girl!! A: Thank you… Tell us more about the music trend then… T: Pop and hip-hop! Pop is really in, still… so is hip-hop… I guess right now it’s the upbeat thing. A: Hmm… last but not least, tell us about your future plans for the rest of the year. T: Well, I wanna be the first Asian to break through… music business worldwide… AND the movie if I can, so I’m really looking forward to that… but I definitely need all the support, as I say I wanna create a big fan-base in Asia… So um… yeah I mean, support me please… (LOL) A: Hey, you got it here in Hong Kong! T: Thank you… |
