Stamina MC joined DJ Marky in Hong Kong for the first time at this year's Rockit Music Festival on the second day of the two day event.
The MC paced up and down getting the crowd going at the music event on the stage and tried to bring people from the crowd up on the stage to dance which turned out to be quite entertaining! HKClubbing talked to him to find out what's up and how things are going.
Nilly: Is this your first time in Hong Kong? Stamina: Yeah it is. It seems like a really energetic place, lots going on.
Nilly: The crowd is mad for you guys… Stamina: Yeah the crowd is wicked today. People were going mental. It’s a shame that the sound system was terrible though. It really annoys me, but I suppose it’s the same issue in every festival. It’s so unpredictable… Also it’s bloody hot in there with all the lights…a bit full on, but the crowd was loving it.
Nilly: I noticed that you moved between rapping and singing pop songs. How much do you adapt your technique according to the crowd you MC to? Stamina: I kind of just go with it and let lyrics flow naturally. Whatever is most appropriate for the mood of the crowd I sort of adapt but at the same time try to enhance the mood by chucking in things that everyone can relate to.
Nilly: For sure you were really interacting with the crowd. This is something quite uncommon for parties in Hong Kong. Stamina: Its important to interact, it makes a big difference to both parties and you just want to keep going…that is if the sound system doesn’t mess up. It really messes up the momentum of things. Marky is not one of those ‘head down and at work’ type DJ’s so it just makes the set more fun and makes us feel comfortable to interact.
Nilly: So what are your plans now that you guys have reached the end of your Asian tour? Stamina: Just to chill really. It’s going to get hectic again soon so I’m just looking forward to going home and relaxing for a while and then the whole thing starts over!
