Hi Martin, how you doing today? I’m good thanks. A little hot from running around London but apart from that, all good. It has been a crazy year for you so far, have any particular moments stood out? Trip to Brazil was pretty amazing. Rio and Sao Paulo are very cool cities. I am hoping to go back in November which would be great because there are a lot of great parties there that I would love to check out plus a bit more sight seeing never hurts. What is your biggest achievement so far? Well I don’t know about most producers but not having to get a normal job is a pretty great achievement I think. Tell us something interesting about yourself that not many people would know? I was in Alien in the film ‘Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy’. I spent most of one summer a couple of years ago running around in a very heavy suit made of metal, foam and rubber. Hot work! Who has been your favourite artist to remix? New Order was great fun. Mainly because I didn’t realise it was going to be one of their classics and only found out as I was going through the parts. When I did realise I was like… oh shit. How do I make this my own? It was a lot of fun. Who would you love to remix? It would be really cool to do something totally different like any of the older Blondie tracks or from more recent time anything from the first Leftfield album ‘Leftism’. That would be a real honour. In truth I am not doing so many remixes anymore because it is more fun writing original music. Harder as well! Have you got any interesting collaborations coming up? I am working with Giles Smith from Secret Sundaze under the guise Two Armadillos. We’ve had our first EP out on Dessous and have the next one lined up for Four:Twenty. It’s a deeper affair which is nice for me as it is different to what I write on my own. Tell us about your new music projects? You have a new single out soon? Tell us about it? I am currently working on several projects including a series of releases for a new label (TBC) and material for an artist album. But all of this is after my new single, the ‘Flicker’ EP. How come an EP? It just felt right that all of the tracks went together. They all seemed to fit the sound I wanted to get across. It’s really the way I like to release music. ‘Flicker’ EP is being released on Love Minus Zero, how did that come about? Tom Neville, the head honcho, is a very good friend of mine and when I sent him the Flicker track he asked straight away if he could release it. It’s my second release on his label and I was really happy to follow up my last release, ‘The Tip’, with this one. What have you got coming up in the next few months? I have DJ gigs from Russia to Mexico, Canada and hopefully back to Brazil. In between gigs I am working on the new material for my own label and album plus more material for the Two Armadillos. What does the future hold for King Roc? More parties, more fun and no stress! When is the “Flicker” EP being released? 9th July 2007 (interview by pr company)
