ImageHKClubbing.com got to talk 'one on one' with Tiesto during his visit to the city this month. Read on to find out what he has to say.

HKClubbing: How do you feel abut starting the ‘Elements Of Life’ tour in Hong Kong?
Tiesto: I’m really excited about it. Tonight is the first gig but the weather’s a little bit disappointing. It’s always interesting being in Hong Kong, this is my third time here.

HKClubbing: How do you feel about the tour in general and which city are you most excited about playing in?
Tiesto:It has been really successful and people have got used to the album and it’s growing on everyone. Everybody has at least two favourite tracks!

HKClubbing: What do you do to relax while on tour?
Well, I arrived in Hong Kong yesterday and slept for 22 hours straight. Then I had a massage and some dinner – it was pretty relaxing.

HKClubbing: What’s your rock star life like?
Tiesto:It’s is an amazing life, you travel the world, meet the best people, stay in the best hotels, eat at the best restaurants, and play at the best parties, there’s nothing bad about it.

HKClubbing: What are your early influences and how have they affected the music you play and make now?
Tiesto:I’m not sure if they do. I’ve been influenced over the years but my latest work has been influenced by travelling around the world is my biggest influence.

HKClubbing: What’s your favourite track?
Tiesto:That’s like asking someone with seven kids which their favourite is. I like all of them; they all have their own charm.

HKClubbing: Have you ever had any trouble at your parties?
Tiesto:No, dance music in general is a positive thing. When people come to a Tiesto show they know what to expect so there’s never any trouble.

HKClubbing: Most memorable experience?
Tiesto:So many, I should write a book about it. One that sticks in my mind is the first time I played in Argentina. The crowd was so enthusiastic singing along and jumping up and down it gave me Goosebumps.

HKClubbing: What does your involvement with Dance For Life entail?
Tiesto:I’m the ambassador for Dance For Life, it’d all about raising awareness about issues like HIV. We educate kids in Western countries and raise money to send to places like Asia and Africa.

HKClubbing: Any new projects or new directions for your music?
Tiesto:At the moment I’m just trying to see what’s possible, you can do so many things these days! I try to work with different people, I have a lot of offers for remixes, but there’s no pressure so right now I just try to be inspired, produce new songs and maybe there’ll be a new mix album coming up too.

HKClubbing: You’ve been nominated for a Grammy for EoL, I that the first time in dance music?
Tiesto:Well, for me it is! I don’t know if it is the first time in dance music but it was a great honour to have a Grammy nomination for the album- it’s a big achievement.

HKClubbing: Any words of wisdom?
Tiesto: If you really want to achieve something and you really want it, you can do it. It’s just a matter of giving one hundred percent.  With a lot of DJs that’s what you see – a lack of full dedication, maybe seventy or eighty percent, but, if you go for it twenty-four hours per day, you can get whatever you want.
