Eric Byron is

Q1: Could you give us a brief self-introduction?

Eric Byron was born in Nice, France in 1981.
In 1996, at the age of 15, he arrived in Hong-Kong.

Eric’s djing career began almost as soon as he arrived in Hong-Kong. It didn’t take him long to move from bedroom DJ to the real thing; starting with beach parties every Saturday night using his own equipment. These parties moved from a night between friends to huge parties – attracting hundreds weekly – and encouraged Eric to take his talents to town.

The breadth and range of Eric’s talent can be seen simply through the extent and speed of his achievements to date.  He has played in the best clubs, venues and parties in HK, as well as venues throughout Asia; he played to crowds of 15,000 for the ‘555’ tour of  China’s big cities in 2002; he played at the infamous ‘full moon party’ in Thailand’s Koh Pangang, and he played at the first international ‘rave party’ in Ipoh, Malaysia – to name but a few.

In addition to this, Eric has worked for Hong-Kong’s top promoters and has played alongside some of the best international DJ’s, such as; Terry Francis, Slacker, Sven Vath, James Zabiela…

Eric is currently the resident D.J. of Drop –recently voted “HK’s best club”.

He can also be found at numerous events around Hong-Kong including most recently, the ‘Hard-Core Dior’ party for Christian Dior’s latest launch.

Having released his own C.D., in conjunction with gogo productions, entitled “Liquid presents Eric Byron” in 2002; Eric is now devoting his spare time to producing his own music in his recording studio.

Q2: What kind of music do you play?

New styles:
Funky, Deep, Tech, Progressive House
Breakbeat
Disco
Nu Jazz
Nu Funk
Brazilian Beats

Classic Styles:

Soul/Funk

Q3: Who’s your biggest musical influence?

So many never been able to point 1 out.

Q4: What makes you wanna DJ? And how did you start your career?

Seeing a friend of mine Djing back when I was 14 years old influenced me. Into buying the turntables and mixer required for starting up.

Q5: Favorite track of the year?

No particular ones, just a lot of good sound this year.

Q6: Best thing about playing a live set?

The reaction from the crowd

Q7: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Can’t complain, I’m very happy living in Hong Kong and playing
In other countries occasionally. So I hope I’ll be here still.

Q8: When can we expect (a new album / an album) from you?

Very soon hopefully (actually considering it)

Q9: Where are you currently performing?

I’m currently playing in Red, Mo Bar (Mandarin Oriental), Gecko & Drop

Q10: Is this a full time job or do you also have a job during the day and if yes, what is it?

Well I also have a company which takes care of booking DJs locally and overseas, which keeps me pretty busy during the day.
