HK Magazine is proud to present a literary dinner in March with Hong Kong-based author Lynne O’Donnell. High Tea In Mosul is Lynne’s first book which offers a personal and moving account of the life lived by ordinary Iraqi people, through the eyes of two women whose perspectives straddle the cultural, racial, linguistic, religious and geographic lines dividing Iraq.

High Tea in Mosul is the extraordinary tale of two women from the north of England who Lynne O’Donnell met while covering the war in Iraq in 2003. These women had met their Iraqi husbands in England, fallen in love, married, and traveled to Mosul to make their lives. They assimilated totally – learning Arabic and becoming part of society. Through their eyes, readers can emphasize with ordinary Iraqi families and the hardships they have been forced to endure over the past three decades.

As a journalist and writer, Lynne O’Donnell has traveled widely throughout Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe, covering some of the biggest stories of the past two decades as well as some of the most neglected. She has written for a variety of publications in Australia, the UK, USA and Asia including: The Observer, The Times of London and the Wall Street Journal. She is currently the Asian Features Editor for Agence France Presse, based in Hong Kong.
