Rated as "one of Washington's top jazz and blues musicians" by Washington Post, Henry Chung has taken Hong Kong by storm since his return in September 2006. In the U.S., Chung was a member of Bob Margolin's (Muddy Waters' lead guitarist) All Star Revue, performed with famous musicians such as Grammy Honorary recipient Pinetop Perkins, Grammy winners Joe Louis Walker and Tab Benoit, and Blues Award nominees Deanna Bogart and Big Joe Maher. Chung has emerged as Hong Kong's premier blues harmonica player and bandleader. He performed with Blues Award nominee Mitch Woods at Grappa's Cellar, sultry Canadian vocalist Genevieve Marentette, and led his own band to a burgeoning sophisticated blues audience in HK.
At Philia Lounge, Chung will team up with two of the region's favorites: Vincent Lam and Teddy Obate. Lam is a very exciting young guitar player in the tradition of blues. He's the leader and founder of the esteemed HK Blues Band, Helter Skelter, who performs regularly at the Fringe Club. Obate is one of the best bassists ever produced by the Philippines and after moving to Hong Kong, he has been one of the region's most in-demand bassists. This truly exciting lineup promises to bring you a night of authentic Chicago Blues, jump blues and soulful swings.
