The Cathay Pacific / Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens will again prove popular with people of all ages as the Sevens Village opens its doors on Friday 30th March to families when it unveils its Toys R Us Zone. For those people who were not lucky enough to get tickets to the rugby, they can make their way to the Sevens Village at the Indian Recreational Club opposite the stadium to watch all the games on the big screen. As well as taking in all the live sporting action from the stadium, visitors to the village can try their hand at a different type of game themselves. For the first year ever the Sevens Village introduces a Toys R Us Zone. This games area houses Xbox consoles and Electronics Art kiosks, courtesy of Microsoft and Electronic Arts , as well as giant and regular board games such as Jenga, Monopoly, Boggle, Connect and Twister all thanks to toy manufacturer, Hasbro Rob Derry, Director at IronMonger Events who organises the Sevens Village explains: “We want everyone of all ages to have a really enjoyable weekend. Families may come down to the Village to watch the rugby and the games area offers the perfect place for the children to let off some steam and have some fun. I can imagine it’ll not be just the kids having fun there but I suspect one or two of the Dads will be glued to the games consoles too!” Alan Payne, Executive Director of Hong Kong Rugby Football Union agrees: “We’re really pleased about this partnership. We can see that it all adds to the community feel of the Sevens Village. There’s something for everyone – from watching the rugby on the big screen, having a drink at the bar, grabbing a bite to eat to buying rugby merchandise. And now with this Toys R Us Zone playing giant Jenga or computer games is an added bonus to coming down to the Sevens Village. “Rugby is an enjoyable sport that is loved by all ages; we wanted to see the Sevens Village reflect this same ethos. I am sure that with all the effort put in behind to making this event, the Sevens will be a great success and prove to be an enjoyable weekend for all.” Free to enter during the day the Toys R Us Zone along with the Sevens Village will be open to all on Friday 30th March from 12pm till the final whistle on Sunday 1st April Argha Sen, Head of Marketing at Toys R Us comments: “We welcomed the opportunity to get involved as The Sevens is such a major event in Hong Kong. This provides another chance to connect with our customers and entertain them in a great environment. As well as having some fantastic games on offer we are also hoping to hold competitions and give away prizes.” (information provided by the organiser)
