Interactive “whodunit” returns to Le Rideau for grand finale
Thursday, 12 April 2007
Following a highly successful, two-performance run in March, Murder at Café Noir is returning to Le Rideau Theatre Café on Friday April 27 for one final performance. The murder mystery dinner theatre performance, produced by Perilous Mouths Entertainment and directed by Clare Stearns, played to sell-out audiences on March 15 and 16, and Le Rideau proved an ideal venue for an interactive performance that invites the audience to become part of the action on stage.
Tickets are available at Le Rideau and cost $370, including a three-course dinner. Doors open at 7pm and dinner is served at 8pm. Audience members are encouraged to dress up as their favourite characters from 1940s film noirs. At the end of the evening, audience members can play sleuth and guess the murderer. Prizes go to the winners.
Inspired by classic films like Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon and Farewell My Lovely, Murder at Café Noir parodies the film noir genre of the 40s and peppers witty repartee and physical comedy with humorous songs. The show is home to all the usual suspects: a black market dealer, a voodoo priestess, a disgraced British barrister, a blackmailer, a gun runner and a cop. With its tongue-in-cheek humour, musical interludes and fast-paced action, it’s a guaranteed evening of entertainment.
Le Rideau’s centrally-positioned stage and intimate environment offer the ideal setting to enjoy this interactive performance.
Le Rideau Theatre Café is Hong Kong’s only performing arts bistro: a restaurant, bar, lounge and performing arts venue, dedicated to staging regular music and theatre events. The centrally located arts hub brings live music, theatre and other performances into a comfortable, intimate space, enhancing the experience of live performances for both audience members and performers. The restaurant serves lunch from 12pm-2:30pm, dinner from 6pm-10:30pm, and bar snacks are available from 2:30pm-midnight. Daily happy hour runs from 4pm-7pm.
