Artists bio: The Yours http://www.myspace.com/theyours Bursting into the Hong Kong indie music scene in 2005, The Yours have quickly established themselves with a reputation for their stunning live performances. Variously described as a mixture of post-punk and shoegazing, their music is punctuated by walls of fuzzed out guitar riffs and a steady, almost drum-machine like rhythm section. In 2006 HK Rockit music festival they released their debut album, Abraham. Their title track "Missed Call" is also included on Northern Star Records' (UK) Compilation <Psychedelica Vol. 2>. Now The Yours are preparing their 2nd album.
Based on the policy of "Freer and No flatter music", this band formed in 2001 by Ogura (from Very Ape) and Koya (from Speed King and Helter Skelter). They recruited a guitar player from the newspaper, and Ito joined to the band. While they were making all efforts to compose original songs, they joined a band competition by Tom Lee Music. Though almost no one dare to play experimental music in Hong Kong, Ito was awarded as the best guitar player. In order to expand their music, Akiyama on turntables joined in 2002. In the same year, they caused a ruckus in a wine bar in Shenzhen as the customers rioted over this 'experimental' sound and the band were stopped after the second song! Come see if YOU are ready for the Sea Monsters experience!
Established in 2006, The Fragile's influences include Post-rock / Dream-pop and Shoegazing. Emotionally detaching themselves from the everchanging city life revealing true feelings, their music is a mix of slight touches and twists complemented with a misty vocalist, it's depressingly charming.
Kissing on the Dance Floor (KOTDF) was formed in Oct 2005, consisting of Alex (guitar and vocal), Tony (bass) and Lung (drum). JT (guitar) joined in April 2006, making KOTDF a four-piece rock group. Influenced by mid-90s rock and pop, KOTDF shapes their music as catchy, emotive and quirky rock sound, founded on heavy guitars and sugar-sweet melodies. Inspiration may come from a scene of a romance movie, a moment of a clubbing night, or a shopping in an arcade. Before growing bald, KOTDF is still a gang of four with playful mind telling you a story in an exciting way - as exciting as kissing on the dance floor.
