Up Dharma Down is currently one of the most popular and well-respected bands in the Philippines today, loved not just by music fans but by their fellow musicians, as well as industry insiders and critics who know a good band when they see one.
The young Filipino band won the In The Raw Award at the 2005 NU 107 Rock Awards, and took home the Best New Artist and Best Female Award for vocalist and keyboardist, Armi Millare, at the 2006 NU 107 Rock Awards. Their first album, Fragmented, under Terno Recordings, has been one of 2006's critically acclaimed albums in the local music scene in the Philippines. The band was also featured in BBC Radio and was even tagged by DJ Mark Cole as the Asian band to most likely crossover to North American shores, and has been featured in numerous regional shows together with bands such as Arcade Fire (Canada) and Bloc Party (UK). Up Dharma Down's eclectic music gave them the leverage to stand above most local bands in the Philippines, enough to be featured in the July 2007 issue of Time Magazine - http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1644902,00.html They were also the first Filipino band to be featured in MTV's "Advanced Warning", showcasing up-and-coming artists in the Asian region. The band has also done a number of endorsement deals and projects with Adidas and Coke among others. Up Dharma Down already produced four music videos for singles that are also currently on heavy rotation on prominent radio stations in the Philippines. Some of their music videos and live footage of their performances can be seen on YouTube. They are currently recording for their second album which should be out within 2008.
