FIJI Water Makes Hong Kong Debut! Natural Artesian Water Widely Available for the First Time in Hong Kong

FIJI® Water, a natural artesian water, bottled directly at the source on the islands of Fiji is now available in the HKSAR at prestigious hotels and restaurants and select grocery and convenience stores.   FIJI Water has already attained the status as a leading, premium bottled water brand in the U.S.  and has many high profile advocates.

Unlike spring water which flows to the earth’s surface or purified water which comes from a municipal source, artesian water is never exposed to the external environment.  For instance, natural artesian pressure forces FIJI Water up from a natural underground chamber, called an aquifer, through a sealed delivery system, so that FIJI Water remains free of human contact until the cap on the bottle is unscrewed.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, water from artesian aquifers is often more pure because confining layers of rock and clay impede the movement of contamination.1  FIJI Water starts as rainfall that filters through volcanic rock over hundreds of years before the water settles in an aquifer, where it is protected from external contaminants.  It is also this filtering process that gives FIJI Water its unique mineral profile that includes silica, calcium and magnesium.

“FIJI Water is one of the finest waters in the world,” said Michael Tan, President, FIJI Water, Asia.  “The water originates from a remote, protected, natural source on the Fijian island of Viti Levu, which lends to a mineral profile that directly influences its soft taste.”

FIJI Water’s purity cleanses the palate, which means it will not taint varietals of fine wine or interrupt the delicate flavours of fine food.  This is one of the primary reasons for its popularity among some of the world’s greatest chefs and culinary aficionados, such as Nobu Matsuhisa, Charlie Trotter and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

The unique packaging - an iconic square bottle with an elegant design - has also captured Hollywood’s attention.  It is not uncommon to spot the likes of Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Cameron Diaz, Keanu Reeves and Nicole Kidman carrying a bottle of FIJI Water along with their other favourite accessories.

In Hong Kong, FIJI Water can be found at prestigious hotels such as Four Seasons, Island Shangri-la, Conrad, Langham Place, The Peninsula and InterContinental, where it is also available at NOBU.  It is also available for retail at premium grocery stores such as City Super, Great Food Hall, Taste, Gourmet, Three Sixty and a variety of natural and organic food stores across the island.  In Macau, FIJI Water can be found at Wynn Macau, The Venetian Macao and Hyper Gourmet.

Launched in the U.S. in 1996, FIJI Water has quickly grown in popularity and is poised to become the #1 premium water brand in the United States.  It is also widely available in the UK, Canada, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia and soon, Japan.

About FIJI Water
FIJI® Water, a natural artesian water bottled at the source in Viti Levu (Fiji Islands), is one of the top selling bottled water brands in the world.  A product of one of the last virgin ecosystems on the planet, natural pressure forces FIJI Water out of its aquifer deep below the earth’s surface and into iconic square bottles through a sealed delivery system free of human contact.

FIJI Water is available in 500ml and 1L at leading retail locations, and is also served at select hotels, restaurants and gourmet shops.  FIJI Water received the United States Secretary of State’s 2004 Award for Corporate Excellence.  It is the fastest-growing super-premium bottled water in the U.S. and has been top-rated in taste tests among bottled waters by Cook’s Illustrated Buying Guide, Men’s Health and others.  For more information, visit www.fijiwater.com
