PizzaExpress has built its fast-growing reputation on serving authentic Italian pizzas – according to the mission of founder Peter Boizot OBE, who tasted his first pizza in Florence and was inspired to “bring the spirit of Italian pizza to the world”. With specially-trained pizzaiolo chefs, traditional pizza ovens, authentic ingredients including sauce made from hand-picked ‘Roma’ style San Marzeno plum tomatoes, and traditional rather than “fusion” recipes, Hong Kong’s PizzaExpress remains true to its Italian roots. PizzaExpress continues a tradition of giving something back to the communities it serves with a ground-breaking Schools Programme that turns the restaurants into classrooms, explaining to children how to make the best Italian pizzas and what it takes to run a restaurant. The 'family friendly' restaurant also has a kids' menu along with games and quizzes to keep youngsters entertained, and a Junior Club with exclusive offers and events, while for adults it features a comprehensive wine menu, with intimate lighting in evenings. The pizzerias offer a delivery service and are available for private functions, including pizza-making birthday parties for children, with PizzaExpress organising invitations, food, birthday cakes and balloons through to clowns, magicians and face painters. Also close to the company’s heart are fundraising programmes -- including the Matilda Sedan Chair Charities Fund -- that donates to needy local charities and the Chi Heng Foundation for the education of orphaned children in China. PizzaExpress currently operates in thirteen countries around the globe with over 400 locations world-wide. Newest additions to the chain include China, with PizzaExpress now open in Shanghai. The HK$388 Valentines Day promotion is exclusive of a 10% service charge. (information provided by the pr company)
