Spasso Satisfies Diversity And Taste
Without Compromising Quality And Tradition For Italian Cuisine

Spasso – Hong Kong’s newest Italian dining attraction, opened on October 15 with a menu that tantalizes the taste buds and satisfies every whim and craving no matter how large or small.  Its extensive list of offerings extends from power lunches to leisurely afternoon teas, to mouthwatering quick and easy pizzas to gourmet seasonal specialties. 

Created by Chef Massimo Curti – previously from Dolce & Gabbana’s “Gold” restaurant in Milan – the menu comprises approachable, Italian cuisine with a focus on six distinctive meal experiences: a la carte, power lunch buffet, afternoon tea, the kids menu, Sunday brunch, and aperitif moment. 

The a la carte menu features 11 delicious dining experiences: the traditional Italian courses such as antipasti (starters), insalate (salads), zuppe (soups), paste & risotti (pastas & risottos), secondi piatti (main courses), pizze (pizzas), and dolci (desserts).  Samplings include Blue crab and avocado timbale with Mâche salad and citrus vinaigrette, Oven-baked sword fish topped with tomatoes, capers, black olives and lemon zest, Traditional Sardinian style slowly roasted suckling piglet flavored with fresh Mitro leaves, Warm liquid center chocolate flan with milk chocolate “cremino” and “26 espresso” ice-cream to name a few.   

In addition to the a la carte courses, diners have a choice of new pleasures.  These include a selection of dishes from “Le Creuset” – the famous enameled cast iron cookware.  Diners enjoy casserole of clams Marinara style, black mussels with a choice of sauces, or baby vegetables braised in cocotte with crushed black truffle, all prepared and served in Le Creuset. 

Chef Massimo also presents a section descriptively entitled “La pasta della Mamma” featuring fresh home made pasta combined with sauces such as Wagyu cheek ravioli in Barolo wine sauce, and black pepper pappardelle with wild boar ragôut.  For more casual social gatherings, “Tra Amici” is the perfect option for shared platters for a group of friends.  Dishes include trio of bruschetta with tomato, buffalo Mozzarella and black olives purée, a selection of regional Italian cheeses, and Parma ham 24-month “riserva” with warm bread puffs.

From the Wood Stone Oven Spasso delivers a variety of “Focaccia Romana” enhanced with such flavours and toppings as rosemary and course salt, rolled pancetta, rocket salad and Scamorza cheese, and their signature “Spasso” focaccia with Mascarpone cheese and thin slices of Parma ham 24-month “riserva”.

For the pizza traditionalist, thin crust options are also available from the Wood Stone Oven including Prosciutto e Funghi, Napoletana, 4 Formaggi, Capricciosa and Margherita to name a few.

The business “Power Hour” lunch ensures busy executives have the option of being in and out within the hour.  The buffet features an extensive array of healthy Italian antipasti and salads with a choice of main courses or pasta, and a coffee/tea.

Afternoon tea is a fabulous choice for refueling and replenishing energy sources after a busy day in the magnificent Harbour City shopping centre below. Spasso serves a selection of freshly brewed teas and coffees with a variety of handcrafted “I-SCREAM”™ gelato and sherbets available in an irresistible choice of flavours including guava, coconut, papaya, lemon, mango, dark chocolate and raspberry to name a few.  Catering to the palates of those who enjoy a more traditional High Tea, pastries and scones are also on offer. The deck-side gelato chariot serves cooling refreshments for an al fresco experience.

Chef Massimo treats every meal with the same level of dedication and devotion, which is why children enjoy the same standards of quality cuisine as their parents do. The kids menu includes organic free range scrambled eggs with Canadian bacon, Wagyu beef meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with spaghetti, 5oz grilled black angus tenderloin steak with home made French fries or veggies, and grilled organic chicken breast with creamed potato and vegetables.

Spasso brings new meaning to the expression “Family Style” on Sunday’s when brunch is served in a chilled, and child-friendly environment, even with a dedicated play room for the little ones.   The Spasso Sunday brunch comes with the option of free flow red and white wine or champagne and offers such popular home-made favourites as marinated salmon, fresh shucked oysters, vegetable platter with a choice of sauces, and much more.

Spasso’s signature “Aperitif Moment” is set to become the sundowner scene for Hong Kong.  With the restaurant’s fabulous western facing terrace, the sun set is a permanent fixture on the menu that accompanies a list of over 50 wines by the glass – the largest in Hong Kong – and over 30 delicious cocktails.  Complimentary Italian style hors d’oeuvres and antipasti platters complete this spectacular and social “Aperitif Moment” that is available daily from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
