Bali Jail DJ Released

Psy-trance pioneer Nick Taylor went straight to the airport and boarded a flight to Brisbane this week, after serving over three months for cocaine possession in Bali’s notorious Kerobokan prison.

Nick’s lawyer Erwin Siregar told Australian newspaper the Northern Star that his client has no intention of returning to Indonesia in the foreseeable future and said he’d been ‘100% OK’ in the jail, despite being locked up with six men on occasion.

“Of course he was not happy about his sentence,” Mr Siregar told the paper, “He is not a criminal, just a petty user. A user is not a criminal, according to my opinion,” the Indonesian lawyer added.

Ironically, the Byron Bay resident, who is scheduled to spin alongside breaks supremo Adam Freeland at local Oz pub The Great Northern Hotel this weekend (September 28), was released days after the prison’s security chief was accused of running a drugs ring. Muhammad Sudrajat was arrested after being caught smuggling two grams of heroin into the prison, with later reports saying he’d also been found with methamphetamine in his both wallet and office.

The prison boss has since admitted to being involved in drugs, though downplayed his status as a dealer, according to press reports.

“My client admitted he got carried away after getting too close to inmates who were drug addicts,' his lawyer Muhammad Rifan told Reuters 'He became an addict and became more and more involved,” he explained,
