DJ Keoki- Viva Las Vegas New York underground icon DJ Keoki has teamed up with Elvis impersonator Jess Garon to open a new nightclub in Las Vegas at the Art Bar. Chatting to Skrufff this week, Keoki said he’s already kicked off Friday and Saturday night midnight-8am parties called ‘The Exile Disco’ at the club and will be re-opening the venue with a mega party on New Year’s Eve. “Jesse and I are planning on blowing a little New York City magic into Vegas’s illustrious night life scene, I’m living here in Vegas now and I’m excited,” said Keoki. “My club is going to be the shit,” he promised, “We’re gonna’ have international DJs, hot go go bitches, boys and girls and a sexy atmosphere and no fake people, no fake celebs, no hip-hop and no hype. Just the best in music drink and entertainment. It’s what Vegas needs.” Keoki’s new venue the Art Club is located south of Charleston Boulevard on one of the ‘little streets that time forgot’, according to Vegas.com, who also describe it as ‘unremarkable on the outside’ but ‘classic Vegas’ inside (with a ‘boxy center bar surrounded by red leather booths and white plastic cocktail tables suggesting a retro-future aesthetic.” Though doubling up as a gallery, Art Bar’s status as a bona fide stand-alone club should help Keoki’s prospects, judging comments made by Judge Jules, who played in Vegas recently at local superclub the Empire. “The Empire Ballroom is the leading dance club in Vegas, benefiting from the fact that it’s not attached to one of the hotels,” Jules wrote in his diary last week, “All of the major casino/hotels have nightclubs, but very often they attract a spectator style crowd who aren’t really there for the tunes,” he added. In more Vegas club news US blogger Down By the Hipster (DBTH) reported rumours that Space Ibiza could also soon be opening in the city, though in their case at an off strip casino complex known as Rio. “Harrah's Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is on a deal making spree, poised to sign an agreement with Space, Ibiza's long running dance club to become the anchor nightlife tenant in the off-strip pink and purple tower,” DBTH claimed, “Semi-genius and semi-risky, as Rio is definitely at the bottom of destinations for twenty somethings that flock to Vegas to destroy themselves,” they suggested, http://www.vegaselvis.com (‘Getting married in Las Vegas?
