Dubai Releases 2nd Speck Man Dubai authorities announced they were dropping drug charges against Big Brother TV executive Cat Le-Huy this week over a month after he was detained at the airport, initially for possessing over-the-counter jet lag, Melatonin. Customs officials subsequently tested specks of dirt in his luggage one of which turned out to be 0.03 grams of cannabis, prompting them to lock him up in Dubai’s notorious Al Wathba prison on remand to face a probable 4 year sentence for possession. The 31 year old Londoner reportedly shared a cell with Grooverider who remains in jail, almost six months after being caught with a blim, similarly as he arrived at the airport. London nightclub Fabric and drum & bass DJ Wendy L. Finch (aka Miss Wendy) this week stepped up calls to release Grooverider, with Wendy urging supporters to mail him books and to write to their MPs. Miss Wendy also backed Fabric’s online petition though urged supporters to ‘refrain from critical or inflammatory language in the comments as the governing bodies of Dubai will not be receptive to this’. “Take comfort in the fact that very rarely are foreigners held for more than six months of the mandatory four year sentence. The Sheik is very kind, by most accounts, and generous with pardons, and Mr. Bingham stands a very good chance of being shown mercy,” she said.
“Grooverider's freedom depends on the charity of those who are holding him: the more diplomatic your approach the greater the chances are that he'll be able to return swiftly home to his family and fans, and that is the bigger picture we all need to keep in mind,” she added. http://www.petitiononline.com/gr00v3/petition.html http://www.myspace.com/misswendymusic (for additional information on helping Grooverider click here) Article by Jonty Skrufff
