Ibiza Authorities Officially Outlaw After-Parties Ibiza’s local council the Consell Insular d'Evissa this week confirmed they’ll be enforcing a club curfew between 6am and 10am this coming season with Space, DC10 and Bora Bora all being forced to close during those hours. Britain’s Independent said afternoon clubbing could also soon be banned around Ibiza Town (til 6pm) though Space owner Pepe Rosello said they’ll be switching morning sessions to afternoons. Pacha chief Danny Whittle suggested the changes could even prove positive, telling Skrufff ‘it’s not actually a ban, its more like Ibiza coming into line with mainland Spain.” “I don’t think it will effect Ibiza at all,” he predicted, “To be honest for me the best part of daytime clubbing is the afternoon, when people have had food and showered and look good. “The best part of Space for me was always meeting everyone there around 2pm and plotting up around a table on the terrace for an afternoon and evening of madness. I’ve never been a big fan of carry-ons in the morning, they always seemed to get me into trouble,” he laughed. “I really don’t think it’s so significant. Even Circo Loco at DC10 which is one of the best parties on Ibiza has changed over the years and now many people go in the afternoon,” said Danny. “Circo Loco have a loyal following and if that means they cant go to DC10 until 1pm then they will all go at 1pm and probably stay longer. The people will fit in and if people want to carry on there is always some party going on somewhere even if its back at their own villa or hotel. I’ve had some of my best after parties in my hotel room; I still got in trouble though,” he added. Judgement Sunday promoter Judge Jules was more ambivalent telling Skrufff ‘I don't think that 6am til 12 midday is the key clubbing hour of Ibiza, so as such it's not a disaster for the island, but at the same time the Ibicencan Government need to get their heads out of the sand’. “They naively hark on about attracting more 'family style' tourists, when Ibiza's family facilities and attractions are dreadful and an embarrassment compared to competing resorts,” he pointed out. “Ibiza's cosmopolitan image gives it the edge and makes it unique. It's good to clamp down on drunk and drugged drivers, which the authorities have rightfully been doing, but to put the squeeze on clubland is short sighted in the extreme,” said Jules.
