Hong Kong registered charity Angels for Orphans and M1NT are delighted to announce that they will be hosting a celebrity- attended, high-level charity fundraiser for orphans in Cambodia. The event is titled “Angels Rock”.
Angels Rock promises to be a glamorous evening of cocktails, fun and dancing, but most importantly will include an auction to raise funds for the orphans at Sunrise Children’s Village in Cambodia.
Items for auction include “A Day on a Sunseeker Yacht", premium wines, and many more, and specially created "Angels Rock" sterling silver necklaces will also be available for sale on the night. The objective of this event is to raise funds for the Sunrise Children’s Village in Cambodia. Many children arrive to the orphanage needing a home but facilities are limited, therefore Sunrise desperately needs this funding to build a new orphanage as soon as possible. Date: Wednesday 10th September 2008 Times: 7:30pm – 10pm, auction and speech by special guest speaker 10pm till late, international DJ appearance, DJ Battle till close Venue: M1NT, 108 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong Guest Speaker Introduced by Deborah Kan, the event guest speaker is Geraldine Cox AM, Founder of the Sunrise Children’s Village in Cambodia. About “Angels for Orphans” Angels for Orphans was established in 2006 when co-Founder Helen Whitman held a dinner party for seven friends, each of whom paid HK$400 to participate. This money was then sent to the Sunrise Children’s Village to sponsor a child for a year. The idea continued as each participant at this first dinner then pledged to hold their own party with funds again being sent to sponsor more children. Sunrise Children’s Village Founder Geraldine Cox then visited Hong Kong in 2007 and three more large-scale fundraisers were held to further assist her with developing the village. Angels for Orphans co-Founder Irena Moore had visited the orphanages in both Phnom Phen and Siem Riep to photograph the children, and her resulting exhibition "Awakening" was held at KEE Club with all proceeds going to the Sunrise Children’s Village. These images are still available for sale through www.irenamoore.com by clicking onto the "Awakening" section. The money raised from all sales of these images will be sent to Sunrise to further enhance the children’s lives. Angels for Orphans is run on an entirely voluntary basis and all donations go directly to the orphanage (no administrative costs). All money raised will be sent to the Sunrise Children’s Village (www.sunrisechildrensvillage.org), registered charity number 10002. The vocational training centre provides care, shelter, food, clothing, education, dentistry, medical care and love for Cambodian children, making it possible for them to be able to lead happy and productive lives in their own country. In addition to supporting the Sunrise Children’s Village in Cambodia, Angels for Orphans is also helping “New Hope” in Cambodia which cares for HIV+ children orphaned by AIDS.
