ImageHKclubbing.com was invited to Globe Music Bank one of Guangzhou’s hottest new clubs created by Hong Kong and Guangzhou based music masterminds. The soft opening/ preview of this 10,000 square foot, 4 room (two were still in the midst of decoration during our visit) sonic pleasure dome, featured legendary breaks DJ, Meat Katie. Meat Katie’s selection of heavy beats coupled with the set up of the club amplified and heightened the clubbing experience making it simply incomparable to any recent experience in Hong Kong.

Firstly the sound and acoustics were mind-blowing! The owners of the club emphasized sound was not something they were going to comprise on and true to their words this was undeniable! Professional and bespoke sound systems offered crystal clear perfection regardless of what part of the club you were in, but surprisingly not overbearing so to stop you from having a decent chat with a mate. There was no sound muffling happening in between rooms, making the transit from one room to another smooth.

ImageThe second key ingredient; lighting, was tasteful, a complete refresher from some of the near blinding disasters in the more established Guangzhou venues! The main room featured a disco themed décor with a seventies style dance floor with changing neon tiles that offered a fresh take. The DJ booth which sits above the floor resembles a mirror ball, bouncing off light from the floor and the lasers simultaneously.

And finally, the two most important features of the club, a diverse crowd of majority Guangzhou residents who were both expats and the localities who were there to feel the music without the sole intention of getting lucky, though there were some happy pairs by the end of the night!

One of the unique features of the club was the in-hose entertainment of professional dancers. Although slightly tacky, to the credit of the dancers, they seemed to be professional and their enthusiasm got even the oldest guy in the joint tapping his toes…or perhaps it was the barely clad slinky chick…?

Other entertainers were pyro maniac fire spinners and fire eaters and crazy bar tenders pouring complimentary cocktail shots for the ladies in a ‘dentist chair’ style. The entertainers kept the spirit if the party up and the tipsy ladies kept any of the men from leaving!

ImageHKclubbing.com gives Globe Music Bank a two thumbs up accolade on the birth of a fresh new ‘must go to’ venue in Guangzhou. The enthusiasm of the guys behind the scene has assured us this hot new venue is the future prime spot of some of the greatest acts to hit South China!
