MTV Presents MTV Mandarin Awards at Taiwan

To take place on 2 September in Taipei

J-pop group w-inds. to light up the event with live performances by A*Mei, F.I.R., Fish Leong, JJ Lin, Show Lo, Machi, Nan Quan Mama, Wilber Pan, S.H.E., Michael Wong Kong Leong, Kenji Wu and Rannie Yan.

Touted to be the biggest outdoor musical event ever in Taipei, MTV Taiwan today announced the MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan will be held on 2 September. Hosted by MTV’s VJs, Mando-pop artists including A*Mei, F.I.R., Fish Leong, JJ Lin, Show Lo, Machi, Nan Quan Mama, Wilber Pan, S.H.E., w-inds., Michael Wong, Kenji Wu and Rannie Yan will fire up 30000 fans at Taipei Football Stadium with their live performances. Bringing together the hottest acts from Japan and Greater China on one stage for the fifth consecutive year, the MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan welcomes Taiwan Tourism Bureau (TTB) onboard as a presenting sponsor in supporting this spectacular music event in Taipei.

 

Pop band w-inds., is one of Japan’s most popular boy bands with Tachibana Keita (vocals and dance), Chiba Ryohei (dance, rap and chorus) and Ogata Ryuichi (dance, rap and chorus). w-inds. diverse music blend of pop, hip-hop, rock and R&B will make the band a perfect addition to the line up at the MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan

MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan will also feature an A-list of Mando-pop artists. The "Pride of Taiwan" - A*Mei has captured numerous music awards over the past decade including the winning of the Favourite Artist Taiwan category at MTV Asia Awards in 2002 and 2004. .The diva is one of the biggest music sensations within the pop music pantheon of the Chinese-speaking world. S.H.E. is Taiwan’s most popular girl group at all time. Their concerts and albums have won them many fans throughout Asia.

 

Taiwan’s popular rock group F.I.R. will put fans on their dancing feet with their dynamic sounds as Machi and Nan Quan Mama add a unique twist to hip-hop, showcasing the hottest Chinese Hip Hop music to all music lovers in Taipei. Best known for her love-themed ballads, the Chinese Malaysian singer Fish Leong will woo the crowd with her beautiful songs.  Another great export from Singapore is JJ Lin who will mesmerize fans with his musical prominence. Taiwan’s latest pop prince Show Lo and the US-born heartthrob Wilber Pan are determined to steal hearts across Greater China when staging for the event this summer. Malaysian singer and song writer Michael Wong Kong Leong promises fans to ask for more with his Mando-pop ballads. Music passionate Kenji Wu will be kicking up a storm on stage with his style of simple yet intriguing lyrics. The young and lovely pop idol Rannie Yang will be here to lend her star quality at MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan on 2 September.

 

 

Vote for your favourite Mando-pop artists

Leading up to the MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan, 20 most favorite Mando-pop artists will be determined by MTV’s viewers and awarded as the “MTV Mandarin Awards – Top 20 Favorite Artists”. From 16 July to 15 August, fans can place their votes via SMS or online voting, and the top 20 Mando-pop artists receiving the most votes will be unveiled at a press conference held before the MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan in Taipei.

 

Taiwan touches your heart

In supporting the MTV Mandarin Awards @ Taiwan, TTB comes on board as a presenting sponsor in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, offering Taiwan as one of Asia’s most vibrant tourist destination in those key markets. TTB is working hand in hand with MTV to promote the star-studded concert to be held in Taipei and bringing the celebration of Mando-pop to the widest audience in Greater China and the region this September.
