Nu Beats with Shuya of Kyoto Jazz Massive (Japan) Saturday 13 August 2005 at Phuture From his early years making initial contact with Straight No Chaser and Gilles Peterson, to managing Japanese acts Monday Michiru and Mondo Grosso, Shuya Okino’s commitment to supporting the Japanese Jazz scene has seen him (along with his brother Yoshihrio) take the Kyoto Jazz Massive sound to all corners of the earth. With a soundtrack built on latin jazz, bossa, batucada and house, Shuya has also lent his remix talents for the likes of Ananda Project, UFO, Soul Bossa Trio and Jazzanova. Currently busy with several projects, including the most recent new bilingual future-jazz free paper magazine called “Quality” which is now distributed worldwide, Shuya is also busy promoting his sound all across the UK, Europe and the US.
