Thailand Tourists Warned After Full Moon Murder A British reveller at Thailand’s Koh Pan Ghan Full Moon Party was killed last weekend, according to a report in the Bangkok Post, which said the 24-year-old Brit was stabbed to death after trying to break up a fight between two Thai men, Chetn Dadhwal, 24, (described as of Indian origin in some press reports) was murdered on Had Rin beach, the main location of the monthly event. The latest tourist killing coincided with an announcement by Thai authorities that they are to issue whistles to tourists and specific travel advice to females, following a spate of murders and rapes in the last few years. Leading Thai behaviour psychologist Pol Maj-Gen Pongpat Chayapan told the Post that ‘many attackers and rapists are psychologically abnormal’ and warned that sun bathing tourists seeking secluded beaches are putting themselves at particular risk. “They tend to choose a quiet spot away from other people, take off the bikini and sunbathe,” he said, describing typical victims, “That's when the attackers strike." In more Thai news, Thailand's Medical Council warned young katoey’s (transsexuals) against getting themselves snipped this week, in response to a ‘castration craze’ prompted by cheap genital surgery. 'It's a totally wrong perception that castration will make boys more feminine or soften their skin. In fact, it will lead to damage of bone mass and muscle,’’ Doctor Suphachai Kunaratanapruk, chief of the Public Health Ministry told the Bangkok Post. ''From my experience, these youngsters should wait until they are mature enough to thoroughly consider the pros and cons of such an operation before deciding to do it,” he added.
