The Royal Weekender – Zouk’s 15th Anniversary Trilogy

To mark the milestone that is 15 years, Zouk is throwing a massive 3 day event, headlined by the djs that have made milestones in history for their genres- from techno God Jeff Mills, to Hip Hop mixmasters The Mixologists and MC Trip , to our very own local heroes residents djB, Sonny and Aldrin.

The lineup in Zouk, Phuture & Velvet Underground over the 3 day festivities is a reflection of Zouk's consistent policy of pushing the musical envelope and supporting and showcasing as many genres as possible; moving seamlessly from techno to hip hop and drum & bass, deep, minimal house to garage and eclectic beats + lots of live elements but always maintaining the quality.

And as is customary, celebrations at Zouk are never just about the music, they are major productions in themselves! The Crystal Ball, Part 3 of Zouk’s 15th Anniversary Trilogy will be no different!

This is one long weekend at Zouk you sure don’t want to miss! Read On!

The Royal Weekender – Zouk’s 15th Anniversary Trilogy, Part 1: Jeff Mills (US)
Thursday 13 Apr 2006 at Zouk
Arguably, the biggest techno export from the US, and still remaining current as ever, Jeff Mills is back on his 6th visit to Zouk, in time to kick off our 3-day 15th anniversary in style! This is also a special year for Jeff, as he celebrates 10 years of “The Bells” – his seminal cult single released in ’95 that took the dance music world by storm. A must have in every techno djs’ record box, “The Bells” is still currently heard in almost every techno set, making it THE most played track in the history of techno! Let’s not forget his lightning speed 3-deck wizardry that continues to amaze clubbers and win new fans throughout the world. So ladies and gentleman…. stand by!

The Royal Weekender – Zouk’s 15th Anniversary Trilogy, Part 2: The Mixologists and MC Trip
Friday 14 Apr 2006 at Zouk
World DMC runner up, World I.T.F. Finals runner up, UK DMC team champions, and European I.T.F. champions; In 6 years since they started battling, the Mixologists have already achieved more than most, but it is in clubs where they really shine and are set to continue to entertain crowds all over the world with their unique flair of turntablism. The 2-man team of DJ Go and Beni G have taken their rock party tunes and innovative style worldwide, having played across the UK, throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, and USA. They’ve also worked/performed with artists such as Roy Ayres, DJ Craze, Jazzy Jeff, Rodney P & Skitz, Kool Herc, Roots Manuva, London Elektricity; while Beni G was also the tour DJ for the likes of Eminem, Kano and Stereo MC’s!

I Think We’re Onto Something: Deeper
Friday 14 Apr 2006 at Phuture
With hip hop heayweights in the main room, this Friday night at Phuture sees the second installment of the edgy ‘ I Think We’re Onto Something’ Series after a highly successful inaugural session with Sonny in February. A night created to promote the sounds that you don’t normally hear in our main room, but yet holds a special place in dance music and garners a strong following in different parts of the world. ‘ I Think We’re Onto Something’ this month sees Resident DJ Aldrin take the torch. Dabbling with an alternative sound outside of his usual ONE soundtrack and touching on the deeper strains of house, tech house, funky house and more, expect nothing short of a deeply satisfying night!

The Royal Weekender – Zouk’s 15th Anniversary Trilogy, Part 3: The Crystal Ball
Saturday 15 Apr 2006 at Zouk, invitation only from 9pm to 11pm
To round up the Royal Weekender and as the final chapter in her Majesty, Zouk’s 15th anniversary trilogy, you are cordially invited to ZOUK’s very own CRYSTAL BALL. To show our appreciation to all you loyal subjects, ZOUK will host for the very 1st time, a Ball with balls!

No theme could be more befitting for the feat that is reaching 15 in Clubland and at this age, we can afford to be ultra extravagant. With reinvention and creativity as our constant mantras, see Zouk yet again, as you have never seen her before!

Inspired by the many different kinds of “ballroom parties” – from the Classical Operatic Ball to the Governor’s Ball and even the titillating Salsa Ball, we will decorate and doll up for an excessive evening full of cavorting fun. Be it Baroque or Bar-Rock, you’ll be Blown away.

If there was ever a time to dress up, this is it! Paparazzi await to capture only the finest fineries and for those of you who need advice, check out some of the Zouk tribe on our website for tips on how to stand out, to fit in at www.zoukclub.com/thecrystalballdressup

The Best Dressed person will win a pair of tickets to Tokyo with more prizes for other guests that catch our eye with their dynamic dress sense.

Zouk’s Crystal Ball is by invitation only from 9pm to 11pm. To stand a chance to be invited for the gala event of the year, log on to www.zoukclub.com and fill in the form. We’ll let you know by the 10th if you got lucky!

zouk/ phuture admission on 15 April for non-members (incl 2 drinks): $12 before 10pm,         $20/$25 after
