Wardrobe The Series…… An annual project since 1999, ‘Wardrobe The Series’ was developed by Zouk to help nurture Singapore’s new wave fashion designers & to give them a platform to showcase their ideology and new retailing labels, to an appreciative audience and members of the industry Part 2 is entitled “Living Colour”. Last month part 1 was all about “the music”. This time around, we share with you a spectacular palette of life in all its many permutations. Through these 2 brands, you will see that colour (or without one) can change the way we look at things; the way we live even. As summer comes to a close, these designers bring you a plethora of patterns and prints (overprints too) to herald the new season. Layers of luxurious fabrics also add depth and texture to simple looks; giving heightened drama and personality. So standby, as these daring designers educate you to colourful living…..
Nicholas Multi award-winning designer Nicholas Wong, since his much-celebrated debut in the local fashion scene in ‘2000 has grown from strength to strength. His modest beginnings- trained unexpectedly in mechanical and electrical drafting as well as in graphic and interior design- have now paved the way to success leading up to 3 of his own lines, retailing in his own boutique as well as in a major department store. His overseas stints with various international fashion brands have also aided him in fine-tuning his personal style…. Presenting LITTLE ELLA DEAR A/W2006, NICHOLAS lets you witness the girlish exploits of Ella as she discovers that “old can be new”- The label Nicholas brings us back to a time when dressing up was a well-loved ritual. The collection is a marriage of old-world charm and modern pop art; with a touch of the eclectic and whimsical. Soft chiffon is contrasted with textured upholstery and vintage fabric, whilst retro buttons and corsages are cleverly used as accents. Unusual use of colour combinations make this colour collection a “Must See” show –stopper!! Nicholas is available @ Stamford House #02-04 39 Stamford Road Singapore 178885, tel 63390223 GENERATION NEXT An underground band of avant-garde fashion designers have come together to “save the world”. This ever-evolving group of designers, whose core team comprises of 3, 4 or 5 (ssshhh… it’s a secret they won’t reveal) passionate souls in search of divine individuality & style; stay true to each of their own tastes and personal influences. Their research team thoroughly works on projects with others “invited” to sit in that particular project’s panel so that their minds will never be biased. Through this process they collaborate and differentiate. For wardrobe, their collection is a study on The Colour Of Black. Whilst black is technically not even really a colour, the team interprets how flamboyant, daring or even quietly stunning black can be- looks normally seen with colours. You will see their own interpretations differ- from exploring ambiguity to the quirkiness of the number 11, etc… And with an injection of white, how does black stand? Then working with all their diverse sets of garments, Lipstick Bandit’s own Steven Kong will pool these outfits together into 1 total coordinated runway show! Complex? Not really…. After all, what’s a cliffhanger leading to a climatic end without all the intriguing drama? So just sit back and enjoy. Lipstick Bandit is a young and off-beat enclave that stocks fashion pieces of the unexpected kind. A place for those who have a knack for something just a little bit more out of the ordinary. From funky commercial looks (clothing items to accessories) to limited one-off pieces, their eclectic collections of precious collectibles are simply to-die-for!!
