Artist: The Raveonettes Album: Lust Lust Lust It's regretfully unoften that I play an album and hear a sound my ears have been hungry for, and even rarer to hear music and at first listen know it will be on my play list for the coming weeks. Of late my tastes have been getting damped with Folk Implosion and The Velvet Underground, hungry for that raw unpolished yet mellow sound that appears a transition consistently challenging for many bands. The Raveonettes mostly hit the nail on the head with this being their third offering, Lust Lust Lust teeters on the edge between catchy pop melody and raw crunchy punk. Each track has something interesting to offer, with the album as a whole sweating a moody blues manner that spews out bruised lyrics over bitter-sweet harmonies. The opening track is a killer, pounding drums and an echoing guiter reminscent of Brian Jonestown Massacre, probably the highlight of the album for me. Throught the rest of the 40 minute CD we're treated to more of this same formula, and often toning it down, adding a more melodic Jesus & Mary Chain's sound. If you're a fan of any of the bands mentioned above buying this album will not be a mistake. 1) Aly Walk With Me 2) Hallucinations 3) Lust 4) Dead Sound 5) Black Satin 6) Blush 7) Expelled From Love 8) You Want The Candy 9) Blitzed 10) Sad Transmission 11) With My Eyes Closed 12) The Beat Dies Review by Robin J.
