The Flying Pan's design is “nouveau retro,” with funky Formica table tops, checkered floors and walls awash in cool blues.
Among the favorites on the vast menu are over a dozen different omelettes with fillings aplenty, an inventive variety of Eggs Benedict, challah bread French toast, Belgian waffles and pancakes with a wide range of toppings. The bagels, made especially for The Flying Pan, are some of Hong Kong’s finest. Little ones can feast on Kiddies menu items like peanut butter and jellywiches, grilled cheese sandwiches and silver dollar pancakes. Tasty new additions to the menu include breakfast wraps, homemade cheese blintzes and deviled eggs.
Many of the selections are served with a choice of two sides, juice and toast, spelling unbeatable value for quality food.
The Flying Pan has earned numerous accolades in its first year, including best restaurant for solo dining in the South China Morning Post’s Autumn/Winter 2005 edition of Good Eating and BC Magazine in Hong Kong Magazine, and has been featured on several television shows, including Time Warner’s Money Magazine.
Behind the novel concept are Tammy Greenspon of El Taco Loco and Archie B’s fame, Jason Budovitch, co-owner of Gecko Lounge and Wine Bar and Paul Almond from Sydney. G/F 9 Old Bailey Street, Central, Hong Kong Island
