MIMA Rockit with Gary Numan, Darren Emerson and UNKLE live
Presented by the Rockit® Music Festival and supported by THE VENETIAN® Macao, MIMA Rockit, will be the first full scale international music and arts festival in the Pearl River Delta since the wildly popular original Rockit Festivals were held in Victoria Park Hong Kong from 2003-2006. MIMA Rockit will bring a range of international and local acts to the CotaiExpo™ Hall A at THE VENETIAN Macao-Resort-Hotel on the August 7 at 5pm. Tickets are on sale now. The first line-up announcement includes Unkle Live, Electric Eel Shock, Darren Emerson and full live performance from very special guest Gary Numan.
Gary Numan's career spans over 3 decades of not only creating masterpieces like 'Cars' and 'Are 'Friends' Electric' (with Tubeway Army), but pioneering electronic music to a level where a number of major artists including NIN, Dave Grohl (Nirvana and Foo Fighters), Beck, Basement Jaxx and Marilyn Manson have all cited him as a huge influence. He comes to MIMA Rockit on the back of a sell out UK tour as well as a handful of sell out supporting shows with NIN.
Experimental hip-hop outfit UNKLE was one of the original artists releasing material through noted U.K. label Mo' Wax, which helped launch the instrumental mid-'90s downtempo breakbeat revival eventually termed trip-hop.
Now after seven previous releases UNKLE's eighth album, and their fifth studio album, "Where Did the Night Fall", was released in May 2010. Their new work signals an evolving music style with more emphasis on indie rock and psychedelic genres but retaining their signature electronic roots. Vocals are at times subsumed into the rich layers of instrumentals creating a complex melange that redefines UNKLE yet again.
Darren Emerson needs no introduction to clubbers worldwide and may be remembered from his days as part of commercially successful electronic outfit, Underworld. Since leaving the group he has maintained his status with high profile residencies at London club The End as well as several releases through the Global Underground Label.
For the Rockit faithful, Electric Eel Shock are back with their brand of Japanese heavy metal and thrilling live show. The band has seen commercial success since their first show at the inaugural Rockit Festival back in 2003 and now boast Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson as one of their fans.
