It’s been fifteen years. But this year marks Danny Rand’s return from the dead. This year we see the birth of the mighty Iron Fist.
Presumed dead for over a decade, Rand, at age ten, is the lone survivor of the plane crash that renders him an orphan. In the fantastical land of K’un Lun he studies Buddhism and kung fu, and spends the remainder of his childhood in a monastery. Under the teachings of Lei Kung, the Thunderer, Rand masters martial arts and wields a mystical power, known as the Iron Fist. He returns to New York City to reclaim his birthright and his family’s company, Rand Enterprises. Suffice it to say nothing runs smooth in the path of a destined superhero. As the series' much anticipated antagonist rises to power, Rand will have to choose between preserving his family’s legacy and performing his duties as one of our world’s most valued Defenders.
Intense and action-packed as superhero movies tend to be, Netflix’s Iron Fist trailers have lived up to the hype so far. Still the bar is high, seeing that the series' predecessors-- Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage-- have all been more than successful and well-received by the audience. Starring Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, and David Wenham as Harold Meachum, this epic Netflix original series already looks to be a blast.
Iron Fist will premiere on March 17, 2017 at 16:01 p.m. HKT, where Netflix is available. The series will likely spell the premise for the Defenders, featuring Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand. So Marvel fans rejoice; we’ve got a lot to look forward to this 2017!
