Peaches Live at the Venetian Macao

Articles - Entertainment

The Venetian® Macau and the founders of Rockit Music Festival® are proud to bring you Peaches, the bad girl of electro punk for her first ever live show in China. Collaborating with everyone from Iggy Pop to M.I.A. to Pink, the self-made, self-produced singer is indisputably the leader of the electro punk movement.

Having hit the mainstream in 2006, she has been featured on shows such as Ugly Betty, 30 Rock and the L word, been played on the runways of countless fashion shows as well as in the movie Lost in Translation and has been a featured artist at outdoor music festivals including Big Day Out and Coachella.

Always ready to push boundaries, especially with her new show ‘Peaches Christ Superstar Featuring Chilly Gonzales’, Peaches is a non-stop electro shock extravaganza that is not to be missed. On 18th April, 2010 in the Grand Ballroom at the Venetian®, with a line up of Peaches, much-loved local DJ Frankie Lam as well as other local acts, the Venetian® Macau is set to host one of the most exciting shows of the year.

Peaches Biography

Peaches is a phenomena; the self-made, self-produced, do-it-yourself leader of the electro punk movement and high priestess of the original dirty classic. Unique with her minimal pumping beats and loved by true innovators as diverse as Deborah Harry, Iggy Pop, Bjork, Josh Homme, Lil Kim, Kelis, 2 Many DJs, M.I.A. and LCD Soundsystem… not to mention a full embrace from the fashion and art world (featured on Paris runways, the backdrop for Victoria’s Secret TV Runway broadcast, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, inspired Kate Moss to sport a beard on the cover of W Mag). Her live shows are legendary - a onewoman Kiss concert that has left the pop world in awe!

Where Teaches was about the self and Father****er was about blurring the lines and asking questions about yourself, ImPeach My Bush is an album for the masses, a social album – to challenge, educate and encourage. ImPeach My Bush is Peaches way of questioning power structures through the medium of sex. In the end, the message is delivered via Peaches’ innovative trademark electro-rock cannon. And in 2006, Peaches set out to infiltrate the mainstream without compromise, and infiltrate she did; 2006 landed “Do Ya” in the summer campaign for The Gap, “Boys Wanna Be Her” in Ugly Betty and The L Word, re-emerged on iTunes top 5 electronic charts following it’s placement in Jackass 2. “Downtown” lives on in The Soprano’s playstation video game. Peaches was nominated for the second time in 2006 for a GLAAD Award for Outstanding Musical Performer. “Boys Wanna Be Her” video was nominated by the MVPA for best make-up, Peaches was invited to appear as herself for the
Showtime drama The L Word, and kicked off the IFC Rollin’s season opener this spring.

Peaches stepped up the production by co-producing the ImPeach My Bush album with Mickey Petralia (Beck, Saul Williams, John Cale, Ladytron, Moving Units, Dandy Warhols, Eels) and Greg Kurstin (Beck, Bird and The Bee, and was once locked down with Marlon Brando as his piano player, albeit only for a month), ImPeach My Bush was recorded at Jeff Pocaro’s (the drummer from Toto, no less) self-built studio in LA. The Last two albums were made almost solely with the MC505 box. This time Peaches turned up her soundgasm using
original analogue gear such as Moogs, original drum machines (such as 808s and synths), the ‘rock’ songs are fully realised, more live drums, more Les Paul Gibson guitars and more Marshall amps. All of which will prepare you for the new live Peaches.

Peaches added live backing band Herms in 2006 featuring; Samantha Maloney (Hole, Courtney Love band, Motley Crue, Eagles of Death Metal) who lent her live drumming for some album tracks (‘Give ‘er, ‘Do Ya’, ‘You Love It’, ex-Courtney Love guitarist Radio Sloan and JD Samson from Le Tigre on keytar and sequencing. The Peaches live rock ‘n roll free for all kicked off opening for NIN (hand selected by Trent Reznor), sold out US headlining club tours, was one of Australia’s Big Day Out festival featured attractions, stormed Europe, Japan, Singapore, capping off the year with one of the most raved about live performances at Coachella ’07. Touring Australia/NZ in late 2008 as part of the PARKLIFE tour with another backing band Sweet Machine… she soon after released her latest album I Feel Cream in early 2009.
