TICKETS GO ON SALE FOR THE ISLAND’S ONLY OKTOBERFEST
Second year Erdinger Oktoberfest takes place at Happy Valley Racecourse

“The Flying Sausages” are back to perform at Hong Kong Island’s only Oktoberfest. Back by popular demand, the Munich Bierfest band will be headlining the traditional German festival, Erdinger Oktoberfest, for three days at a purpose built beer hall at Happy Valley Racecourse on the evenings of the 28th, 29th and 30th October 2010.

The three day festival celebrates the very best of German culture: overflowing steins of Erdinger wheat beer, delicious German fare such as Schweinshaxe (Roasted Pork Knuckle), beerhall wenches as well as plenty of singing and dancing to “Ein Prosit”. 

It is fitting that the Erdinger Oktoberfest is to be held at Happy Valley Racecourse, as the original Oktoberfest was held in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen in the form of a great horse race. Erdinger along with the event organisers, Ironmonger Events, stick to tradition by hosting the Erdinger Oktoberfest at Hong Kong’s most famous racecourse.

Tickets cost HK$120 on Thursday and HK$190 on Friday and Saturday and includes a free Erdinger Stein of beer for every ticket holder. The Erdinger Beerhall will also open its doors on Saturday lunchtime (12-4pm), providing a great alternative for a fun lunch.

Trevor Tan, Brand Manager for Erdinger comments: “Last year’s Erdinger Oktoberfest was such a great success that we have extended the event from two to three days. Our annual Oktoberfest is one of the best parties in town and tickets sell out very quickly. We fly the band in from Munich to perform and we make sure there is plenty of traditional food, games and beer on tap to keep people entertained throughout the evening.”
