Bonnie Gokson’s Sensational New Dining Experience Now Open 

Touted as the city’s most chic and glamorous, yet relaxed restaurant and bar, with stunning 360 degree outdoor terrace, SEVVA by Bonnie Gokson is now officially open and set to raise the bar in the Hong Kong Dining scene.  

Pronounced ‘Savour’, meaning to experience a taste, SEVVA has been designed to be a home from home.  It delivers a quintessentially Hong Kong dining experience inspired by what Gokson describes as ‘the DNA’ of Hong Kong– traditional regional Asian cuisines intermixed with Western fine dining, coupled with her own travels and experiences.   

Its penthouse location with wrap-around terrace at the top of Central’s designer shopping mall, Prince’s Building, makes it the ideal spot for sipping cocktails under the stars or simply enjoying the stunning views of Hong Kong’s harbour and prime heart of the city whilst enjoying good quality food.  

SEVVA has been designed by Calvin Tsao of Tsao & McKown Architects in New York (awarded in the Hall of Fame in the USA), together with Bonnie Gokson and Team HC in Hong Kong, and oozes warmth, soul and energy.  Timeless in décor, the restaurant and bar areas exude an air of sophistication, combining masculine with feminine, everyday with ceremonial, industrial with refined and casual with formal.

SEVVA presents four distinct areas within its penthouse location: Harbour Side, Bank Side, Taste Bar, and a vast terrace - as well as a Cake Corner for take away treats. 

Like entertaining at home where guests can retire from one room to another, SEVVA entices people to move through the various spaces and moods.  Weaving throughout the enclaves, every space has an individual design and feel.  A stunning vertical garden wall plays a key feature in the lounge where vegetation climbs the wall, whilst illustrations by Gladys Perint Palmer adorn the main entrance walk way and a baby grand piano graces the corner of Harbour Side.

SEVVA serves simple, honest cuisine: no overly ‘handled’ or fussy foods but instead uncomplicated, good quality dishes derived from the freshest available produce. 

Conscious of health, well-being and appreciating the importance of good ingredients, the kitchen team source from around the world to serve only the best of the best – with as high a percentage of the ingredients as possible from organic farm sources, including Ionica chicken from Australia and Poilâne bread.  Food is taken back to its basic form and worked to create maximum flavour and impact. 

Unpretentious and casually glam, Harbour Side specialties are of the highest quality.  Here people will meet for a relaxed all-day dining experience and feast on homely, familiar dishes with an indulgent edge.  Menus range from hearty soups, noodles and pasta dishes to toasted sandwiches, daily bento boxes and triple prime steak burgers, many choices are inspired by old fashioned customs.  Signature dishes include Claypot Rice, HK$ 280 and Wagyu Beef Cheek & Ox Tongue Pot Pie with Porcini Fries, HK$280.

Bank Side offers a more sophisticated choice for the discerning clientele with grade A French foie gras to Kagoshima beef and unique hand picked baby peas. Bank Side will be a more formal affair in both mood and cuisine, and diners will be pampered with a carefully balanced menu of luxurious and indulgent ingredients. King Prawn & Crab Roe Spaghetti with Champagne Crème Sauce, HK$ 380, and Macaroni & Triple Cheese-Bake with Truffles, HK$ 320 are both house specialties.

Slipping easily into day or night mode with comfortable lounge seating for chilled out drinks and light bites Taste Bar is cutting edge, industrial and modern, transforming itself from a bento box bar at lunch time to a suave cocktail lounge by evening.  At Taste Bar, small plates such as Truffled Scramble Egg & Bacon on Poilane Sourdough Toast, HK$ 160, Crabmeat Poppers with Remoulade, HK$ 220 and Sevva Poori – Indian Nachos, HK$ 120 are served, alongside a menu rare vintage wines, New World labels, fine Champagnes, beers, spirits, freshly mixed fruit infused cocktails and organic vegetable juices.

Adjoining each of the distinct dining areas is a sprawling Terrace allowing for exquisite year round al fresco dining and magnificent views over the heart of the Hong Kong harbour and financial district.    The terrace offers comfortable lounge seating and areas for cigar smoking, at the same time, lending itself well to private and corporate functions.   Here the Harbour Side menu is available. 

Completing it is SEVVA’s Cake Corner.  Serving delicious treats to take away, guests can choose from sweet temptations such as homemade Pear & Chocolate Tart, HK$ 135, Lemon Meringue Torte HK$125, Chocolate Fudge Cake with Marmalade, HK$ 135 or The Original Crunch Cake, HK$ 125.

Time and effort has been taken to ensure natural ingredients and taste are not compromised at SEVVA. 

Since Bonnie Gokson is an avid art and music collector, both will play a big part in SEVVA’s ambience and elegance. Stunning 20th Century International artworks from London’s Fine Art Gallery will be displayed, whilst Jazz, Bossanova and sometimes Classical & Baroque pieces will be enjoyed by music lovers.
