Spanish Resort Bans Bikinis & Man Boobs
Councillors from infamous Barcelona party town Salou this week announced they’re to introduce stringent dress codes for tourists in an attempt to deter binge drinking British tourists from upsetting locals.
Male and female holidaymakers who display bikinis or bare chests on the streets will be fined between EUR100 and EUR300 with those having sex on the beach and/ or drinking booze on the street also being liable to copious fines.
'It is not normal to go the market with your packet on show or round the tourist sites in a thong,” Alberto del Hierro, Salou's Councillor for Tourism complained.
“One shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets or enter public buildings in unseemly apparel. It gives the city a low-class look,” he added.
The Spanish town’s steps came two years after Konstantinos Lagoudakis, the then Mayor of notorious Greek resort Malia pleaded with British authorities to ‘do something’ about ‘young people’ suggesting they were giving a ‘bad name to their country’.
“They scream, they sing, they fall down, they take their clothes off, they cross-dress, they vomit,” Mayor Lagoudakis told reporters, “It is only the British people — not the Germans or the French.”
Uber hip London producer Sinden also condemned binge drinkers via a Twitter post last weekend, though failed to mention whether the object of his post was British.
“Just seen a girl vomit on her feet then eat a kebab,” Sinden Tweeted, “Just wrong!”
