How do you feel that DJing and producing has changed over the last few years?
Djing has changed quite a bit over the last years. You can just look at the equipment. Before it took a lot of practice to learn to beat match and mix song from song and have the confidence to go in front of a crowd and play a set, now you can use a computer and just use the sync button and not worry if the track will be mixed or not.
The music has changed a lot. The tempo has slowed down a lot, atleast for me. I used to listen to tracks that would be 128bpm and now I like to stick to 122-126 maximum. More deep house and not so much trance.
What was your favourite memory so far of 2013 and what would you like to achieve during the rest of the year?
Playing the headlining set at VOLAR for the ATA PARTY at 3am Till 6am when the lights came on to a full crowd on a Wednesday night. There is no better high than seeing a crowd feeling your music. Im very excited to play the next party in the new volar in august.
What can we expect for your upcoming performance at GET WET Summers Series Four at W Hong Kong?
Good dance up lifting music. I wont play anything you cant dance to.
Aside from your DJ equipment, name your top three DJ essentials.
Making sure my music is sorted properly, having a full meal before I play, and comfortable shoes on.
Tell us a story from your DJ experience that shocked you?
I Had a friend who was dancing on the stage once and she fell…I wanted to help but jump over the booth to help but at the same time was mixing a track….i can say the track was not mixed properly.
Do you have any pre gig rituals?
I always meditate a few hours before I play. It keeps me calm and focused.
Who in your opinion are the best up-and-coming producers / artists at the moment?
finnebassen Adam port and Rodriguez Jr . Their styles could not be any more different but their tracks always seem to get the dance floor going.
If you weren’t a DJ/Producer what would you be doing?
I would still be modelling or if I didn’t model I would be in boxing or mma. I have always loved the sport but didn’t want to ruin my modelling career with a crooked nose.
