Opened just yesterday on the 13th of May 2014; the Absolut presents Nadim Abbas: Apocalypse Postponed art bar installation welcome guests with changing night programs of performances by bands and DJs, alongside servings of different cocktails in theme to the artistic experience.
Located on the 17th floor of Soundwill Plaza II – Midtown, Causeway Bay, the opened until 17ths of May 2014 hub draws inspiration form Sci- Fi fiction films from the 20th century, thus resulting in a bunker- like outlook with sandbags and blacked- out windows.
Wanting to make visitors feel like they are in a safe refuge, there is a strong feeling of space travel and war theme with its lighting of blues and construction of little cave like domes for gathering.
There are also reoccurring images of rice weevils printed on the sandbags or as illustrative animations playing in floor placed tvs as a symbolic representation of violence and the eating away of everyday life.
With special appearances from groups like Silver Apples, Re- TROS, Li Jianhong and other local talents like Atomic Bubbles, Meta Fog, Stoic Strangers and Pando’s People; the programme is filled with performances as well as an Art review session happening as a private party on the 15th of May, 2014.
With graphics done by designer Jake Noakes and cocktails designed by Andres Basile; a total of 4 drinks are made for the occasion.
There is the Iron Rice Bowl featuring literally an iron rice bowl holding puffed rice infused in Absolut Vodka with stirred in white chocolate syrup; the 2666: A Space Cocktail mixed up with Absolut Vodka, pomegranate, beetroot, citrus, ginseng tea and absinth in a space vacuum drink pack with a blood red shade; the Ca+ shaken and served in a plastic highball with calcium tablet and ginger pipet with the Absolut Vodka, sake, guava, lime, ginger, lime leaf syrup, club soda and calcium mix; and the Black dog, an Absolut Elyx, lapsang tea reduction and cherry liqueur served over a large ice cube in an aluminum muffin cup.
A different sort of art event hosted with one of the most favorite vodka brands; visit Nadim Abbas: Apocalypse Postponed the art bar installation at Causeway Bay to experience a different sort of excitement with music, art and drink.
