Beijing Club, one of the biggest and oldest night clubs in Lan Kwai Fong, has just announced its closure on September 15th after months of not making enough revenue. With such a sudden announcement, many LKFers didn't really have a chance to say our final goodbye. In the same official statement, Magnum Group also mentioned that DIZZI will be closing its doors in October 2015. Read on to know the full details.
With a total area of 2,000 square feet, Beijing Club had provided a premium nightlife experience for many party goers since the year of 2007. The venue was famous for its looming expanse of three separate floors with four dedicated bars as well as a massive American styled balcony.
Its parent company, Magnum Entertainment Group, made an official statement about the closure of the club on Tuesday.
“In light of the loss-making performance of Beijing Club notwithstanding management’s effort to turn around the business, to focus available resources on the other clubs of the Group and to save future rental expenses, the board of directors of the Company announces that the Group will not seek to renew the tenancy for the premises of Beijing Club upon its expiry and has closed down Beijing Club with effect from 15 September 2015 for carrying out necessary reinstatement works at the premises” for the next six months.
With the Magnum Entertainment Group’s earlier announcement on the closure of another club, DIZZI at the end of October 2015, the group emphasizes that the planned closure of the two clubs would not affect the business operations given that Magnum and Zentral, the two other clubs of the Group, have been and are expected to continue to be the main pillars of the Group’s clubbing business.
Even though we didn't get a proper goodbye with Beijing, and definitely sad to see it go, we are also looking forward to what takes over that hot spot of LKF next.
