Quiksilver, the world’s leading outdoor lifestyle company and MTV Asia are proud to announce the Quiksilver Revolution Tour, an outdoor surf, skate and music extravaganza. First stop; one of the world’s most unique entertainment venues – Sunway Lagoon, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 22nd April 2006.
In a first for South East Asia, Quiksilver has brought together the members of their elite international surf and skate teams and international bands in a true celebration of youth culture. While the team will be on hand to demonstrate the skills that have seen them recognized internationally, the Quiksilver Revolution Tour is totally unique in its inclusive and high participation focus giving all in attendance an authentic insight into the boardriding lifestyle. This incredible venue, which has been customized to showcase the unique abilities of the athletes will also be open for use by the general public with opportunities to take part in workshops and sessions with the teamriders.
Sunway Lagoon is home to the largest manmade surf beach in the world. At a massive 18,000 sq. feet, the surf pool is capable of churning out perfectly shaped waves. Two of the world’s greatest surfers, American surfing prodigy Dane Reynolds and renowned Australian freak Ry Craike will go head-to-head in the pool, being whipped into waves with the aid of 1200 (cc) jet skis.
In a major commitment to the provision of first class entertainment facilities in Malaysia, Sunway have recently implemented a massive renovation of the Sunway Lagoon Park including the placement of 6000 tons of sand, palm trees and huts in the surfpool area creating a tropical beach oasis in the middle of the city.
The Quiksilver Revolution Tour will see the construction of a massive custom skate park including a special vert ramp imported from Australia, measuring 14.5 ft high and 40ft wide and a specialty street course and Mini Ramp. Constructed by Australian Ramp Design for the event, the park will showcase the talents of professional skateboarders James Kennedy, Sascha Mueller (Germany) and Jean Postec (France), along with street skaters Josh Roullion (Australia) and Shane “Nugget”Oneill (Australia)
Throughout the day, local and international music acts including “Click 5” (America) and “After the Fall” (Australia), will play to crowds expected to swell to 50,000 or more.
As part of a partnership entered into by MTV Asia and Quiksilver, the entire celebration will be broadcast as a half hour special into 6 regions via MTV Asia’s extensive network including the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Indonesia and will be premiered in May.
The Quiksilver Revolution Tour represents a new and innovative way to introduce and develop the boardriding lifestyle via two of the world’s most enjoyable outdoor sports, surfing and skateboarding, to an emerging youth market.
