Will Barras’ composition and fluid lines provide poignant detail in liquid abstraction. The subject matter is readily familiar, but captured in a manner that seems to jar time and space with psychedelic abstraction. It is his way of expressing the emotional movements of this labour. It is therapy and pleasure and necessity. Though will is more passionate about cricket, and even the art of the poached egg than he is of skate or snowboarding, he is hailed as one of the visual artists who best. Represents these influential creative movements. This is not only an indicator of his prolific work rate and good nature, his artwork featuring on all types of boards, clothes and mural campaigns, but more so of his unique voice, technical competency and sense of exploration.” Harlan Levey, Modart Magazine.

Above Second is an artist-run gallery and studio space existing as a catalyst for the expanding new contemporary art movement exploding forth from the streets/ art schools/ design studios from around the world. Located in Sheung Wan, a very local part of Hong Kong Island in the Central and Western District, we exhibit a genre of work influenced by illustration, graphic design, graffiti, comic books, pop culture, and street art. We are aware of the growing interest for diversity and options the Hong Kong community craves for contemporary art. Promoting and nurturing the understanding of an alternative subculture, we have a network of local emerging young talent and international artists whose work is rarely exhibited in Asia.
Above Second’s aim is to challenge and captivate the audience with notions of unconventionality and quality. Our Art Residency programs are designed to provide a space for the visiting artists, without any limitations, as a setting to be progressive and innovate. They are encouraged to bring that raw creative energy (usually found on the streets) indoors, transforming our white walls into ingenious installations and departures from reality. We are proud to have collaborated with artists from Denmark, Italy, USA, Mexico, China, and locally. Committed to nurturing young and talented artists, we have created a forum for launching their careers.
