Description
Clockenflap is back! Brace yourselves, Clockenflap 2 is upon us, and this year the event is extended to 2 days. This music and multi-media arts festival returns on Saturday November 7th and Sunday 8th 2009 for a fantastic, fun-filled weekend of international music, multi-media arts and bizarre custom built contraptions!
Building on the first festival's huge success, Clockenflap 2 will allow attendees to enjoy cutting edge bands, take in the festival atmosphere and sunshine on one of Hong Kong's few usable outdoor lawn areas. The festival's Official Venue Partner, Cyberport - with its sea air, soft grass and cutting edge facilities - has been retained, as has the giant TV screen for showing local and international film shorts.
The last Clockenflap festival brought UK Mercury Prize nominees 'Young Knives' to Asia for the first time, and the organisers have been hosting The Peoples' Party throughout the year to bring quality international artists such as Jose Gonzales, Ratatat and Handsome Furs to our city.
“The first Clockenflap was hugely successful,” says Festival director Mike Hill. “And after listening to the feedback, we decided to focus on the outdoor festival experience. We are building a richer, cooler line up of international and regional acts." The festival has teamed up with expert partners to improve this years festival and add more features. The festival now features two large outdoor stages, an international film tent, an arts tent, live-art installations, an exciting new Eco-Village, an improved kiddies play area, chill-out bar areas, an exclusive VIP room, international cuisine and much much more. Once again the organizers have made a strong environmental commitment with on-site recycling stations and offsetting carbon emissions incurred from artists' flights.
This year Clockenflap is proud to announce Blood Red Shoes (UK) as the Saturday night headliner.
"Blood Red Shoes are like the impossibly cool kid you spy on your first day of Freshers’ Week." NME
Yacht (US) ("Young Americans Challenging High Technology.") will also be joining Clockenflap. "Dreamy pop tracks that sound like artifacts from another planet." Billboard
Hot Chip DJ set - Alexis Taylor (UK)
Alexis Taylor, front man of Grammy nominated electro pop pioneers Hot Chip will be jetting into Hong Kong for a DJ appearance at Clockenflap. With the band currently putting the finishing touches to the hotly anticipated follow up to 2008's epic Made in The Dark, Alexis who only considers DJ shows for one off, special events will step up to the plate for a scattergun selection of classic Disco, Electro cuts, Rock N Roll, Techno and credible Pop music.
Clockenflap also boasts some of Hong Kong's finest locally raised bands, with the likes of Chochukmo, Noughts & Exes and Poubelle International performing on the main stage.
On the Side-Flap local heroes Uptown Rockers, Songs for Children and Sno Blind will be throwing down an eclectic mix and live performance with interactive media featuring on the giant 9 meter by 7 meter LED screen.
Within the film tent film shorts, music videos and animations will be presented from Warp Films (UK), Amy Neils, I Shot Hong Kong, and an extensive program of local indie film-makers work.
The Arts tent, a first this year, will house moving installation art pieces from local artists, Nadim Abbas, C:A+D, Outsign Lab, Pixel 8 and more.
With the line-up being finalized in the following days expect more international acts, local bands, film and art.
Ticket prices and availability will be announced on 1st October 2009.
Line-up so far... more acts to be announced shortly.
