The internationally acclaimed label Peppermint Jam is one of the most well-known house labels for over 14 years now, and has released big chart records as well as really cool underground club tracks.
Peppermint Jam has started an international, worldwide tour headlining DJ Mark Robinson and arrives exclusively at Club 97 on Saturday, 11 July, 2009, from 11 pm – late.
For over 15 years now Mark has worked in the dance music industry, with various roles in different areas of the business. It all started with a work experience role at his local record shop. Here he worked on developing his musical knowledge and mastering his DJ skills. While here he quickly developed a love for House music. Early influences came from Basement Boys, Roger Sanchez, Farley + Heller and Masters at Work to name a few.
It was while working there that Mark met the organisers of Pioneering London Pirate Radio station GIRLS FM. Subsequently he was given a prime time Saturday night show at the age of just 16! Gigs quickly followed in venues such as The Cross, Bagleys, Club UK, Turnmills and Ministry of Sound where Mark really began to master his talent.
In 1996 Mark met London fashion entrepreneur Gifi Fields and began DJing at catwalk shows and parties, and was one of the first DJ’s ever to play live at London Fashion Week! Gifi and Mark became good friends and soon decided that their mutual interest in music should be put to good use. Together they had the idea of starting a dance radio station on the internet and after a year of planning ‘Soho Live’ was launched. Mark put an unrivalled DJ roster together with regular shows from Mousse T, Bryan Gee, DJ Swing, Ramsey and Fen, Kenny Hawkes, DJ Disciple and Brian Tappert to name a few.
After 2 great years Mark decided to move on and was subsequently asked to join Mousse T and Simon Marlin at Peppermint Jam Records. He developed Peppermint Jam Distribution in the UK with over 30 labels being distributed by Peppermint Jam. Amongst others Mark was instrumental in the initial success of Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records, Nic Fanciulli’s Portent Records and the
Soul Avengerz Labels.
After over 7 years working with Peppermint Jam Mark is now Head of A&R for the Label and is always on the lookout for the next big track for Peppermint Jam. He was instrumental in securing the success of smash hit singles from SE:SA, Inaya Day & Mousse T as well as signing many other successful projects.
As well as running Peppermint Jam, Mark is now very busy in the studio with production partner Leggz. Remixes for SuSu Bobien (Peppermint Jam), Inaya Day (CR2), Hoxton Whores (Peppermint Jam) and Gary Bardouille (Soda) are out soon as well upcoming collaborations with Abigail Bailey and Katherine Ellis.
