Arriving HK Mid May till August...

Postby azianice » 02-05-2005 11:23 PM

hello folks, I'm a CBC (Canadian Born Chinese) from Montreal looking for some hot spots to party in HK. I got some friends coming up Mid May and throughout the summer till August so I was wondering where are some of the hot spots to hit as for the clubbing scene. In Montreal I was a nightclub promoter so I was wondering what the HK clubbing scene was like and am looking more into the R&B/Hiphop clubs...but also interested in any raves that go on around HK. Anyways, seeing as you guys are regulars let me know the where and when to go. Thanks.

Jon.

Since you like R&B/Hip-hop, you shall find no problem in finding a suitable event for your tastes...

Enjoy your stay...

thanks for the reply, I guess this is more of a house/trance message board.

Since I am from Montreal I also enjoy a good after hours or house scene..I was wondering if you guys get international talent like Montreal had...(for example Stereo Afterhours in Montreal is owned by David Morales....and he plays monthly there..it's amazing). Any places for some good vocal and/or classic house... As for trance..I was wondering if any big raves will be going on this summer including some huge international talent..(I saw Tiesto in March and it was amazing) and Ive been wanting to see armin and Benassi too..anyways...thanks for the reply.

I havent heard of any big names... (altough Kylie could be deemed as one) I had great expectations of a megatropolis of entertainment, where east meets west and there are the best of each worlds... and oh did I fall flat on my face.... :smt009
Happening crowd is relative, if you are a pretty girl that follows the "in-crowd" by going to places such as Dragon-I.
There have been a few good local talents here dont get me wrong. (DJ Ladystar)
But there has never once a moment that I was f***ing amazed with everything... Even if I am not entertained I do know when the crowd is happy and I know that that is what matters to the book-keepers...

Oh well... me ranting away.... :smt003

awww that's too bad...I heard about Dragon I...but it's Hip Hop R&B and pretty exclusive isn't it? That's what I heard anyways.....well since I'm a guy..I don't think I can be considered a "pretty girl" but I hope I don't get that kind of compliment around here...

Now that you talk about air planes it makes me think back to all the gd times in Montreal...my last rave...was..called Bal en Blanc (www.balenblanc.com) ...just imagine Tiesto/Benassi in one room with 8000 ppl and then Morales/Rauhofer/Deep Dish in another room with another 8000 people all dressed in white and grooving to the tunes...it was magical haha.

Who wants to fly back next week? hahaha www.514productions.com/swirl <--- I want to go back for that...ugh :(

Well, I m missing out on the only decent act in the world and that is Infected... and since they will never come over... (Dont f***ing blame them) I ll just have to wait till next year since my schedule is packed to the max..

I heard about Dragon I...but it's Hip Hop R&B and pretty exclusive isn't it?

Solution: Flash of cash.

Well dont let me put you off since I find most things wa-nk.... You ll have a good time as all/most chinese like the lifestyle here anyway...

Again good luck in your search for that good entertainment.

you can't legally work? well I won't dig into the details but that's too bad. So what is there to do to pass time in HK then? (I'm curious because I get bored during the days when I have no work).

I m good old student trash and since I jumped ship in england (bored-shitless), I decided to try my luck with Asia... other than night-life, everything in Asia is rather good.
Passtime in Asia for me is drinking and teh internet... winning combination.
In theory I should be working on my portfolio that I have to submit by the 18th....

lol drinking! actually my friend and I were wondering if the drinking here would be as hardcore in Montreal..

we drank so much..that we ended up doing the local Montreal drinks...

Sambuca - pretty plain but we light it in the mouth..

Chilly Willy - Snort Vodka anyone?

Cobra - (not sure of the mix but..) I think it's Jack Daniels, Tequila, Tobasco sauce, and sambuca lit on fire poured over...

So there's nothing to do during the days eh? maybe some chill cafe's or ...I dunno. haha. so u are from England?

and..portfolio for what? what line of work or school are you in?

Personally, I am a rather heavy drinker since I m used to the english winter and I used to wrok in pubs... The drinking scene here is rather sh*t but you need to do you drinking while it is "happy-hour" or get wrecked at home and sober up on the way to the club... far cheaper that way...

Black-mod-russian: pint glass: 2 shots of tia maria 2 of vodka top it up with guiness down 10 of those, 1 every half hour on a sunny sunday

or

depth charge: double jd with a dash of * and top it up with red bull

very nice indeed

I can't keep up with you..lol..u respond so quick.

Your depth charge seems nice, .but I must be one of the only guys who dislikes beer...and can't take guinness...I just can't take the amount of carbonation it has...but yes, sharing drink ideas is quite nice hahah...So clubs have "happy hours"? or do you mean go to a pub for happy hour then head to the club?
