Expats tend to be whites and mainly white males that tend to also be white males. The problem is that a few expats spoilt it for the rest of them by thinking they are better than the local community. South America is open to anyone since most outsiders bring money to be used in their local community, a passport out of South America nad South America is a mixed continent.
Like most minorities they go around in packs as a way to protect themselves in any case of trouble.
Personally, I do have a problem with a few expats but I have explained myself above...

haha anyone here want to form a "tourist group" so that we can stay safe too? COME ON out of towners...we must unite! Anyways, I'm sorry if I'm posting useless content..work..is very slow and boring today.
There is a big difference in being from a touristy group and a group of outside wan-kers that think they are bad boys. Hk is far safer than many global capitals I have been to before... Just be sensible like you would be back in Canada... Or do like me walk around with the "correct" people :smt003

And I know HK is safe (despite what my dad says about me being pick pocketed)..but..at any rate..I am not really scared of getting in trouble..just trying to spark some humorous conversation..that's all haha

Well, Chinese people are rather polite and all. And it must have been truly bad luck from your father's part that he got his stuff nicked...
Go to Rio, if you want to come back home naked...
All in all, the advice goes to all places... dont be a cock and dont make their life too easy... :smt001

I don't know but how can you ever expect to have a great night out, if you choose these two places?

That is why people call themselves tourists or not having any locals with them.
So where would you have advised them to go btw?
