Good Crowd, Bad Organization

Can?t offer much of a review but I will share my experience?.
The ferry we were on broke one of its? engines on the way from Central to Yoyo Island so the 1 hour ferry ride took what? About 2 hours or more. No fun being stuck on a ferry running so slow, my grandmother runs faster?. We were very disappointed with the ferry, it was old and small and dying. It?s not like we were expecting some luxury yacht, but you would think it makes sense for the organizers to hire something bigger and faster. Oh yeah, we also had to ride with a police dog.
Anyway, we got to Yoyo and I could have sworn the DJ was playing some old track from N?Sync or something. The beach party didn?t look so happening from afar ? very few people, crap music. I just ensured myself that things will get better later on when more people come in and the ?real? DJs start playing.
At the entrance, there was a bag check and we queued up. When it was our turn, the staff immediately said to us that we have to check our bags in over at the ?Cloak Room?. The Cloak Room is a f*cking joke. They charged us HKD40 per bag and everytime we wanna take something from it, it?s another HKD20. Can you say milking for money? And they stored our bags in huge black garbage bags! We got so pissed off that we just went and took our bags out again about five minutes after checking them in.
Once at the beach we were very surprised that the organizers didn?t charge us for sitting under one of their umbrellas. Hurrah! There is a God?.. Everything else was a rip off though. 3 Cans of Heineken was HKD100, 5L Keg was HKD350, Red Wine was HKD300 per bottle. As for food, they only had hot dogs, siu mai, fishballs, peanuts and cup noodles. Cup Noodles were going for HKD30! Honestly, they were charging too much for garbage.
As it got darker more and more people came? there was no improvement with the music ? they were still playing hip hop and RnB. One of the DJs even played Madonna?s Holiday and Al Green?s Let?s Stay Together. Don?t get me wrong, I love Al Green but I don?t think it is appropriate to play that tune at a beach party. No no no.
I asked one of the DJs what he was gonna be spinning that night and he said he wishes to play some breaks but the organizers want them (all the DJs) to spin ONLY hiphop and RnB because ENVY is a hiphop company. Awesome. I really wanted some house and some breaks but after speaking to that DJ, I can honestly say I?ve lost all interest.
The wakeboarding show was a joke ? no one even bothered watching it. The fashion show was an even bigger joke ? they had about 4 models and the crowd just booed. Huge turnout, you can tell all these people wanna party and they just can?t because the party was no fun.
The ONLY highlight of the evening, I would say, were the free shots of Jagermeister those cute little girls were handing out. Other than that, no more. I left at 10 pm and as we neared the ferry pier we saw probably about 300 already in the queue - all disappointed and talking about how shitty the party was. There were a bunch of people trying to jump the queue and everyone was just getting pissed off, which is understandable. We have been standing in line and waiting for 2 hours and if anyone tried to cut in front of me, I?d have punched their faces.
As the ferry left the pier, one German guy pointed to the long queue of disappointed partygoers and said, ?Look there! That is the best ever promotion ever for this party! Everybody is leaving!?

great job missbellehk, i were there also, quite disappointed on the party~
"There were a bunch of people trying to jump the queue "
sorry i am one of them,
as what you said, we waited too long for the ferry
so my friends rent our own boat going back to city
and our boat was already parked in the pier
so we need to get on board as soon as possible
otherwise the public ferry have no place to park
hope you understand
