Hey, i'm a DJ from Canada. I'm heading to hong kong in a few weeks. I've been there tons, but i'll be 21 this time and i'll be looking to have a good time. So what is it that the average Hong Kong person does for fun? What are the raves like there? Where can i find some good "eye candy", so on and so on....

A dj? So where have you played before? How many years on the decks and how many in public? The usual HK person works, the unusual person has fun depending on what you call fun.
"Eye-candy" that would have to be the models of Dragon-I club.
If you mean other sort of candy look esle were since this is a public forum and the admin doesnt like it.
Raves dont have the same meaning here BTW, fashion show with some electronic music, might be deemed as such, I would advise you to look up the Hitec thread involving Christopher Lawrence and Marco V.
If you have high expectations of people having a f`ucking amazing time and really pumping it, you ve chosen the wrong nation. Altough there are some but very few "troopers" that still keep the scene alive.
After that if you still have any more questions ask away, and you might recieve a more positive perspective of HK night-life.

I've DJ'd for about 2 and a half years here in Canada. I do mostly local gigs here in Calgary. I also run a production company here called "litte Productions" which throws raves. I would expect Hong Kong to have a better scene than Calgary since there are 7 times the people there. The average rave here is usually about 2000-2500 people and we get pretty much top notch DJ's here (Armin Van Buren, Ferry Corsten, Ayla, Thrillseekers, etc.)

I was just looking for some nice hang out places. Maybe a nice bar, popular spot in the city, something....youthful and part of everyday hong kong life.

I would expect Hong Kong to have a better scene than Calgary since there are 7 times the people there.

I learnt it the hard way dont expect anything in HK other than hard workers, entertainment is a secondary activity here.

Most big name Djs are doing their set in Shenzhen and Beijing. Its going stagnent unfortunately....
The youth here think that Hip-hop is the best thing since sliced bread and their fashion sense is similar too...

All relative to personal taste, I would avise that you go to the main page, to see taste in venues...

The very "good" places tend to have a dress code, so be a smart lad and bring a suit.

Other than a decent pub in CWB... not really.

Interesting reply. Not un-expected from a forum, but here's some advise for you my friend. Lighten up. I've exchanged about 3 comments with you and you've already come off as the most bitter person in Hong Kong.

Congradulations on THE most childish rebuttal known to man.
I mentioned i was a DJ to 1.) Share my mixes with people who love music and 2.) give a FRIENDLY responder an idea of what i'm in to so they could suggest something i might like.
YOU however took some sort of stab at my age. I guess that makes you feel better about yourself, even though it makes no sense (just like most of your sentences). You also suggested i was shallow. I'm not sure if you're smart enough to realize this, so i 'll just tell you. Guys like attractive girls. Yes i realize looks are not everything, but there is certainly no wrong in wanting to meet someone attractive.
