Mogwai – The Hawk is Howling
Bare of Lyrics “The Hawk is Howling” sees Mogwai having progressed since “The Beast”, their last album.  Mogwai has, for me, always been an album to touch the soul  allowing me to muse to it and ponder on it.  This album jells all of Mogwai’s strengths and the band maintains their soft riffs, tense crescendos and inspiring compositions.  Almost like poetry or a short narrative void of words, they manage to evoke deep emotions.  The albums first song is a nice starter for the album which focuses less on their guitars and a more on the piano.  “Danphe and the Brain” has a beautiful and almost childish arrangement on the xylophone that merges effortlessly into the song.  The ten track album will be a real treat for any existing fans or music listeners who want to expand their post-rock collection.
