Pioneer DJ Quest 2008 returns

Pioneer DJ Quest is a search to uncover Greater China’s biggest and baddest CD-deck DJ’s, and its coming to Hong Kong, for the second year.
 
The two DJ Quest Hong Kong Champions (mixing and scratching) will win top Pioneer Pro DJ gear, and also be flown to Shanghai to compete in the greater China final, held in October 2008. All DJ’s are welcome to enter, regardless of experience. Oh, and you must be 18 years old or above. To compete DJ’s will need to be available on the 21st and 28th August, and the 12th September.

The Judges



. DJ Forest - 2007 Pioneer DJ Quest winner, Asia

. DJ Yin - Music Director, Club No. 9 and Beijing Club

. DJ Jason F - Creative Director, Entertainment International Ltd

. DJ Ricky Stone - DJ magazine top 100 DJ, three years running!

The Pioneer DJ Quest process



DJ's will be judged on the following criteria:



. Technical Skills (out of 25)

. Stage presence / performance (out of 25)

. Creativity (out of 20)

. Musical scale / frequency / control skill (out of 10)

. Music harmonization (out of 10)



Judging - Semi-finals



All 10 semi-finalists will be invited to the first semi-final event - held
at Evisu Bar (Central) 21st August 2008, 8pm - midnight.



DJ's will pick a number between 1 - 10 from a hat, and will then play in
order of the number they have chosen. Number 1 - 5 will play in semi-final
number one, and 6-10 will play in semi-final number two.



DJ's will each play a set, and the judges will award the points according to
their performance.



At the end of the second semi-final - held at Evisu Bar (Central) 28th
August 2008, 8pm - midnight, the scores will be counted and the finalists
announced.

Finals



The event final will be held at Club No. 9 on September 12th, from 9pm till
12.30am.


We will have 3 scratching DJ's and 3 mixing DJ's competing, for two
championship categories.
