BBC World Clubbing Series 2 in Hong Kong

Postby nick-w » 31-03-2002 10:36 AM

In February 2002, the BBC decided that they should move their world clubbing series 2 over to Asia. After talking to us about the whole scene over here we recommend the programme be half Hong Kong and half Singapore, to give a picture of the different scenes. They then cam over here with a list of contacts we gave to them to get them set up, so that they would not miss any promoter, club etc on their short visit. They did their rounds of all the spots with the programmes host, DJ Fergie, who was in Hong Kong at the time playing over at Queens Night club. They were interested in filming Liquid Dancers, Skateboarders and going to Kareoke bars, but thought that only the last one is part of Hong Kong, where the other two are more International trends that are taking place in Hong Kong. Don't know if it went ahead, but from the little of what we heard the BBC captured all the best features of the great city called Hong Kong. If anyone records it in the UK, send us a copy!

The only similar thing I heard of was channel 4's 80 raves around the world... they went to all the big ones, wonder if asia was on it much...

I seen it a few years ago. Was pretty good. Shows you Fergie in Hong Kong at some Djing School, an interview with some guy that did stage shows with robotic hoovers (i think) and the rest of Hong Kong was kinda like a touristy holiday show.
Singapore was on Shopping and basically Zouk niteclub.

It was shown on BBC 3 there digital channel and I'm nearly sure the date was 2003. Remember speaking to Fergie about it shortly after it was shown on tv. :smt003

LOL.

To be fair the programme was only 20minute long so there was only about 10 or so minutes about Hong Kong before they started going on about Singapore.

Hopefully going to see Fergie do his radio show next weekend. :smt003
Then its off to the Turnmills in London. :smt020

If your deffo for coming over to Somerset then you mite as well go to Ibiza while your around that part of the world.

www.BMIBaby.co.uk
www.Easyjet.com

Do cheap flights out to Ibiza if you book early enough with them.

www.Ibizaspotlight.com will give you all the listings and accomodiation details you need as well.

If you don't do Ibiza I'd recomend you do 1 of the dance festivals. Great day out and so many djs and acts you have to try and get to see over the course of the day. :smt003
